Higurashi for sure...

Kinda like what I said, anything that portrays brutal killings of children would be HUGELY controversial.

Another. Seriously, people would not take that well... Pretty well any anime where people periodically die off gruesomely.

True so wouldn't Deadman wonderland and elfin lied get banned in some countries if they went live action?

Oh yeah absolutely. Australia would probably ban them, I don't doubt that. (I'm Australian so you Aussies don't get on ye high horse)

I'm tempted to add baccano especially the scene with vino and the kid whose name escapes me and if you haven't seen the show lets just say psychotic killer + immortal child + moving train = banning in several countries

Having just bought Elfen Lied this week, it comes instantly to mind. Mardock Scramble as well. And Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage. Pretty much anything that overtly sexualizes children or shows them being sexually abused.

Hell, Neon Genesis Evangelion would cause a major ruckus if Asuka's story wasn't toned down.

(Tangentially, I'm still surprised Wolf Children got a PG rating in the states).

I think the US would eat Berserk up though. Look at Game of Thrones.

Although I do see your point once they get to the Eclipse.

Err... no, probably not. Same goes for a lot of gruesome shows that are similar. I mean, movies like Saw and the slasher movie genre have been a thing for years now.

I am surprised this current anime hasn't raised eyebrows! Tesagure Bukatsumono Take Chronicles of the Going Home Club with narrative like gdgd Fairies but on a Panty and Stocking level maybe even more over the top! I mean it pulls no punches.More like Comedy Channel humor! Not for the easily offended! I dont think a lot of people are watching it CG and 11 minutes long.

Makes everything mentioned look like PG .Well except Kiss X Sis

I can totally see the second barrage, I know exactly what arc you're talking about.

Right, but how many of those feature the brutal slaughtering of children?
