I've been in and out of seeing NJPW but am back with them as they rose back with a lot of new talent. I do got old VHS tapes from our local wrestling radio show host that got me into puroresu in the first place that had both NJPW and AJPW stuff. I seen some of Yuji Nagata's older and newer stuff like the TNA crossover match with Kurt Angle that got to TV here. Brock Lesnar's time there was unique to see in that match he had with Kazuyuki Fujita and Masahiro Chono.

But indeed the great matches have been in the last 2 years. Tanahashi/Okada has been maybe the best feud and set of matches in ages in any federation. When Okada finally beat Tanahashi for the first time was likely my favourite of the series but any of them are all time great matches. The G-1 Climax this year alone also hooked me huge with a bunch of big matches. I fell in love with Tomohiro Ishii's push especially in that wild match he had with Katsuyori Shibata. Kota Ibushi whom I've followed since his DDT days as a singles and tag guy with Canadian Kenny Omega has had some great matches now in NJPW like against Okada.

i'll go with this year alone.

Okada i feel lost his spark from last year but his matches with Tanahashi at Invasion Attack and King of Pro Wrestling were a joy to see.

Shinsuke's bout with Saku at the Tokyo Dome is my choice for match of the night. blew everyone's expectations out of the water with how good it turned out.

then theres the G1 Climax. Ishii vs. Tanahashi was the single most inspiration match i've seen. Kota Ibushi vs. Shinsuke was truly incredible and that amazing Osaka crowd helped a whole lot.

I slightly disagree Okada lost his spark from last year I'd say he's more hmm transitiong as I think he's now slightly more a fan favourite than cocky heel not that its so obvious its a slight subtle change which I've liked.

For matches well Okada-Tanashasi I'm going to go all 5 in the series they''ve had and if I had to say which one of the 5 was the best I'd lean either Invasion Attack or the last one they had .

Ishi-Shibata from the G1 was awesome just flat out from the word go and I enjoyed Okada-Devit IWGP title match even with the Bullet Club involvement.
