so i haven't been in the anime community for long and i wanted to know about what girls think of traps?
are they loved? are they repulsive? if you're a guy tell me what you of think traps
also if there is topic like this one out there i wouldn't mind a link to it lol
for me personally i think of traps as cute guys, now some traps have me questioning my sexual orientation
because they act WAY too cute too be true XD

Depending on how it's done, it can be funny as hell, but if a guy can pull it off and you can't tell at all, and he's cute while doing it…yeah, it's a guilty pleasure of mine!

I love them. Here's a few prime examples.
1. My most favorite possible trap: Crona from Soul Eater.

2. Haku from Naruto

3. Yuta from Cuticle detective Inaba

I'm guilty of mistaking these three for females before finding out the truth xD

Trap:

Not a Trap:

The fact that guys who are over the top feminine are called traps is hilarious. I didn't know about it til i saw ^ pictures.
I was gonna make some lame joke about traps being very bad for animals in the wild, cause i knew that it had to mean something but didn't know what. But know i now and it makes me lol.

So, what animes has them? I know Kaichou wa Maid Sama has a trap. But that's the only anime i know of with a character like that.

My teen romantic Comedy which is here on crunchyroll also baka and test, nyarko san a crawling chaos those are few of them and there is alot more of them out there

Are you referring to Hasuta-kun as a trap in Haiyore! Nyaruko-san? I like to see him as a version of Mithos from Tales of Symphonia. A young and cute boy that can transform into an adult. I dunno what kind of entitlement to give a character like that, but i'm pretty sure he's not a Trap.

Nothing wrong with 'em. They're adorable. Usually.

Agreed; I don't really care what they wear or what sex they appear to be.

I've never heard of such a thing. Do you mean a lot of tomboy-ish girls or a lot of characters like Touma Minami from Minami-ke that pretend to be boys?

An anime filled with girls that appear to be guys? O.o

Usually a trap is done for comedic effect (like Minami-ke, Ouran High School Host Club, Baka to Test, or Maria Holic), to evoke a sense of childishness, or to make a character mysterious and otherworldly to the viewer (like Envy from Full Metal Alchemist or Haku from Naruto.)

I don't see why this would ever be an issue.

Gender-bending on the other hand is some weird perverse thing since the character will usually maintain the desires of their gender and use it as a tool for assault, physical contact, or other things of a creepy nature

I don't really care because gender doesn't matter to me. I mean at first I thought Kanon from Umineko was a girl but when I found out he was a guy my love for him never wavered.

I think they're fine and pretty cool as long as they don't try befriend you and then stay your best friend having you think they're of the same gender only to find out they're not and they've robbed your hearts secrets O.O

I do think traps don't truly 'exist' in the real world apart from in areas where anime is quite popular because it's merely impossible to look like the other gender without using chemicals and at the same time still live a normal life. People get picked on and stuff especially when they've never seen anime or heard about traps. They'll just think traps are odd and stuff.

Sometimes anime does overexaggerate a trap. They actually completely draw a female and say it is a male, not much giving it a chance to show the male side. They should probably make it believeable and suiting the society now. Sometimes its hard to believe that anime characters who are cross-dressing but still are drawn like a girl would be believed as a guy. Its too obvious it's a girl.... e.O

But I absolutely love traps though, they're awesome~

Alas, no traps on my computer.
But they are cool, although don't know what I would do when I see them naked for the first time.

Oh no no no... in High School and QUITE a few times so far through college I have seen PLENTY of guys who look like girls because of feminine features (face structure, slim bodies, long silkyish looking hair, sometimes even female-esque clothing) and just as many girls who could pass off as guys (short or buzzed hair, thicker/manlier jawlines that feign look of being a guy, broader shoulders, muscled so not slim bodies) not to mention voices and what not (I have heard guys with girlier voices than girls I have actually dated).

I can agree here... I have yet to see a convincing trap that is a female acting as a guy, that isn't blatantly obvious that it is a female: Butler from Mayo Chiki for example.

Where as traps that are male as girls seem to be actual females. Though I guess if you have feminine features, add some make up and female clothing its much easier than being a girl trying to look like a guy.
