Not dissapointing in the least. All-access membership costs 11.95 monthly which, yearly is 143 dollars. You pay 70 dollars which is half-off what it normally is PLUS they give you 15 dollars store credit which is complementary.
You literally pay for High-quality Ad-free simulcasts for translated anime and drama shows, a pretty good amount of HQ scanlated Manga, and a discount on the store. What possibly more could you ask them them for? Oh I forgot, you're also supporting the producers of the thing you love. (anime manga etc)
The price is fair and to be honest its a great deal so I see no reason to complain.

the anime membership is for 49.99 and the all access is $69.99 (plus a $15 store credit). So almost the same price in value.

I'm not debating on whether it is cheaper then the year round pricing or that it is cheaper to get anime-only sub. I'm just saying its not as good of a deal as last year. That's where the disappointment comes in

I'll try to explain in more detail;
The cost difference between 2012 and 2013 Black Friday deal for the All-Access sub is a 40% increase for 2013. ($49.95 vs $69.99)
The $15 store credit is only for crunchyroll and I would not subtract it from the cost.

None of the black friday deals are as good as they used to be. It is called a bad economy. Plus CR has the right to charge what ever they want. While it might be dissapointing it is still a sale price. Maybe cyber monday will have a better deal or another holiday. If you feel like waiting go for it. If the majority of premium members buy during black friday CR loses a lot of possible income. It is not like you are entitled to the black friday deal.

I was disappointed just like everyone else though. Won't stop me from getting another premium membership.

It's definitely more than it used to be. However, since they now have the store which has become my way of expanding my wardrobe, it's a pretty good deal to me since I'll certainly be using that $15 credit. Manga selection isn't so great, but it's still early.

It sounds like the last year deal was actually accurate in it's claims.

I bought the deal because I have been paying monthly for just the anime (currently not working so I cut back to just anime). The deal is good for me. I am not going to complain about the price per say, I just do not like when companies use what is truly and technically false advertisement. If you normally offer a 12 month subscription at a certain price, lets say $99.99 and you run a sale on a 12 month subscription that says its 50% off, that would make it ~$49.99 not $69.99. The wording is clearly misleading.

There is a difference between a monthly subscription and a yearly subscription, they are separate products with different pricing.

I love CR, don not get me wrong, but I have to call you guys out on this. your add says it is 50% off an annual subscription when it is most definitely not!

So please correct the pricing or change the wording!

CR gets more anime, including One Piece, manga and is clearly getting better as a streaming site yet people still bitch about paying $20 more bucks for a service that has undeniably increased in value... ヽ( ´¬`)ノ

It is, what it is. Not really disappointed because, in the end, I still saved $30, and got $15 store credit. Which will get put to good use.

I thought they were ok. I still went ahead and bought another year of anime membership.

It may not be as great as last year, but now they have more content than last year and it's still a better deal than if you were to pay monthly/yearly without the Black Friday deal..

if any of you decide to go free membership prepare to be annoyed every time an ad comes up. Not only do they play 1 ad but they follow that ad with a second one and most of the time is the same ad that just played (i watch at night) last night alone during 1 episode of bleach i ended up watching at least 7 walmart ads. 1 ad before the intro. 2ads after the intro. 2 ads in the middle of the episode. and lastly 2 ads before you close out of the ending. All of them were the same exact walmart ad. I understand that they make money from the ad placement but at least have variety in ads. This is becoming a brainwashing scheme or something.

Unless you're pretty poor/lower class and that extra $20 goes a long way.

In which case, you'd not buy any kind of membership, save $70 or whatever and watch anime in SD a week later. If you dish out money for an internet service of some kind, chances are that you can afford $70 for an entire year's worth of content though.

Are we going to start using the logic that they don't pay for internet and just use wifi hotspots and the public library to watch anime next?

If you're choosing whether to pay for food/rent or pay for an anime streaming service, it should be pretty obvious where the money should go based on what I would think to be common sense.

No matter what, the fact doesn't change that Crunchyroll is still offering savings. Less than last year, but still savings. It's something. With some of these comments, I'd almost think that CR were charging MORE MONEY THAN REGULAR PRICE right now.

I knew it was going to be picked apart in that direction. In any case, I'm simply taking a neutral stance.

People put different values on things for different reasons. Some may see the $20 as a deal breaker, and honestly there is no right or wrong in that opinion.

I won't be renewing, I honestly don't want to buy anything in the CR market so the $15 credit justifies nothing for me. I only used my membership about 3 months total anyway.

Agreed. I mean, how in the world can this be a bad deal? I rather pay $70 for everything (Drama, Anime, Manga) + $15 credit than the regular price and get squat. Also, you get guest passes every couple of days to give to friends, family, random people, etc. And don't forget the devices you can watch it on as long as you got a subscription.

Is it a pricey deal? Maybe.
Is it a good investment? I think so.
Is it disappointing? Heh, far from it!

I will say this though, things come at a price so I understand that what one person can afford, another person can't or don't see value in that decision. It all depends on what you want to use your money for.
