I recommend:

on crunchy roll: one piece, naruto, bleach, Sherlock Hound, Chi's Sweet Home

not on crunchy roll: pokemon, Digimon , yu-gi-oh

Most of the shows that are appropriate enough for those ages are slice of life that they would probably find boring filled with moe humor that would likely go over their heads. The only title that I can think of that I believe a 4 year old girl would appreciate would be Squid Girl and maybe a couple magical girl series. Plus maybe a few other titles that have been previously mentioned in this thread that I haven't seen yet.

The 7 year old boy could probably handle some of the site's shonen fairly well, but most he's a little young for. What with all the blood and death. Other than that he'd pretty much be in the same boat as the girl.

Thanks for all the responses.
I guess I will have to do some watching alone without the kids to weed out any of the lesbian influences (?!)
I kind of think that a lot of the anime will go over my 4 year olds' head tbh. Its more to open her 'ears' to the Japanese language
Yes, we have already watched a good number of the Miyazaki/Ghibli material as well as countless anpanman, shimajiro, pokemon, doraemon etc but signed up to Crunchyroll just to open up a few more options. And my son (7yo) really got into the One Piece in Japan; seems a lot of kids his age in Japan watch this kind of material.
Thanks again, and rest assured I am always in the room and keep an eye on the subs (else I would have no idea what was happening) so censorship is only a click on the remote control away.........

One Piece, at least to me, has a bit of questionable (ecchi) material (interspersed throughout the series), which I don't think is really suitable for kids. It is rated 13+ on MAL: http://myanimelist.net/anime/21/One_Piece I'd recommend checking the ratings of all the shows (that u aren't familiar with already) that were recommended in this thread at least on MAL, so at least u have a ball-park idea of the target range a show may be suitable for.

A lot of these shows in this thread, I think, are more for teens, than children. I can tell a lot of us, including myself, kinda forgot what it's like to have a simplistic 4 year old brain, lol.

Eyeshield 21 because it has a good number of episodes, plus halfway through the episode a pro will tell you all about how to play. So if your son ever wanted to be a football player he'd be learning a LOT.

And it's SOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD

Try Girls and Panzer
http://www.crunchyroll.com/girls-und-panzer

Anime about a bunch of school girls that take part in mock tank battles.

If they like One Piece I'd say Naruto is plenty safe. Both are silly when they want to be and serious the same. I wouldn't recommend Bleach though. I think the first part of Little Busters! is plenty safe. I doubt many people that didn't know the company behind the visual novel, or the visual novel itself, realized what the story was about. It has plenty of lessons/good themes even without the dark reveal of Refrain. I imagine most of the sports shows here would be good, though I've never watched them to know if they are completely safe.

An edit after reading another reply -
I only offered Naruto, which also has questionable material, because he said they already watch One Piece. If he already mentioned the things will go over their heads then a show about forming a baseball team should be safe (Little Busters, lol).

Fantasy: Erin (Aired on the Japanese version of PBS, so it's definitely friendly for the kids).

Comedy: My Ordinary Life (No risque jokes, smart "random" comedy that appeals to all ages).

Action: Viewtiful Joe (Zany cartoon wackiness)

EDIT: Nevermind--Ninja'd.

And NO to Eyeshield 21 because of Hiruma and Cerberus!
