Cliffhangers. I don't mind stories that leave some loose threads (I think it's more realistic that way; life very rarely cleans up every little detail at once), but it really annoys me when major parts of the action/plot are left unresolved at the end of a book/series/etc.

After watching Vampire Knight I'm too scared to finish an anime in fear that they will end terribly.

Cliffhanger endings are the bane of anime. Often implemented by adaptions of manga and light novels. It's basically a big "SCREW YOU GO BUY MY OTHER SHIT" marketing ploy. Some open endings are tolerable, though, and I do appreciate a bit of animated material as opposed to none at all.

As for actual completed manga/anime series... I still hate when things are left unresolved. It's fine if it's meant to prove something, but often it's just laziness. I'mma agree with the poster above me on VK (the manga, not the anime). That ending was immensely suckish and left a lot of loose ends.

My least favorite is actually not on the list. My least favorite type is when the anime breaks away from the manga, and, in an attempt to wrap things up, makes up a really shitty random plot at the end.

Examples: Chrono Crusade, Pandora Hearts, Magi (thank God it later got a second season)...

A lot of people hate cliffhangers. I do too just not as much as watching an entire series only to find out at the final episode that it was the main character's dream or flashback. I sat here watching a series then find out the main character discuss his or her past while not watching what happens now. A dream version is probably a little worst/unfair than a flashback though. Having all that action, drama, and etc going on then the last episode is like "I hope you liked my overly creative stupid dream". Fucking cop-out!

THIS. God I hate that. It would be alright if the original ending actually made sense and stuck with the theme of the plot, but often it does not. Not at all. The absolute worst in my recent memory was the Blue Exorcist anime. Magi was also bad, but it was easily recovered. Dammit, A-1 Pictures, why must you always screw things over with your original endings?!

Yeah, exactly. Thankfully, I haven't seen too many "it was all a dream!" endings in anime/manga. Flashbacks I don't care about, because at least the story actually happened.

I honestly haven't watched an anime series that ended with a dream nor flashback. The dream ending would ruin everything and make me want strangle the creator of the anime/manga though.

Gotta be cliffhangers. I can't stand cliffhangers. But, there's another ending you left out which I think is just as bad:

Forced Happy endings. Endings that they made happy just to not end on a depressing note, even when it doesn't make sense. I think Soul Eater and The Dusk Maiden of Amnesia fall into this category. I loved both of those animes, but come on.

There is nothing, and I mean nothing, I hate more than cliffhanger endings. It makes me want to shoot myself.

Everyone seems to be choosing cliffhangers.

I don't really mind that much if my favourite anime gets a cliff hanger as long as the cliff hanger is only is the anime.

I've watched plenty of good anime with cliffhangers that were never resolved but I just then follow on with the manga and its fine, for example:

>Kaichou wa Maid Sama!
This anime could've continued longer, I was dying for a second season but I was still able to follow on from the manga.

>Deadman Wonderland
The anime was poor and so unfinished but the manga was brilliant and cleared it up for me.

>Bleach
The anime was cancelled and to me it was let with alot of plot holes and cliffhangers, luckily the manga was there to read instead and wa-la! it was fine.

I have to say cliffhangers are the worst because it leaves you without closure. With the rest, at least you can continue to try and interpret it or have something tangible to talk about
