Some can be like that, I would recommend giving Magic a go though, top-tier decks are quite competitive and complex.

maybe cos i never tried it?

No offence taken. I just wanted to say that I somewhat agree about it being a bit childish. However, "childish" has never held a negative connotation to me. I'll always be young at heart and If I enjoy watching cartoons and playing whatever game until the day I die I'll consider myself lucky.

Anywho, what I'm trying to say is that it's alright if something's childish. Go out there and give it a shot and you may end up enjoying yourself! Card games, specifically, can end up being kinda pricey depending on which game, though. So keep that in mind.

When I was in elementary school I was into the Pokemon TCG I still play all the games, but trading card games seem to lose their appeal to me very quickly.

As for how i view others who are into them still, I don't think any more or less of you everyone has their own hobbies and interests who is to say what ones are better than others? As long as what you like doesn't hurt anyone else directly its fine

I've played Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh, and MTG, and own a couple deckbuilding games (ie: Dominion, Race for the Galaxy, Thunderstone) that I still like to play. Back when I played proper TCGs (mostly Magic) I was a deckbuilder first and foremost. The kind of person who'd look through lists upon lists of cards, finding synergistic and thematically-appropriate combinations. Most of my friends wanted me to design a deck for them. I did own actual cards, but I mostly played on a free online program that allowed me to use whatever cards I wanted without having to actually go and buy them (I play Modern exclusively in Magic though; no crazy Vintage shenanigans for me).

Anyway, my love for deckbuilding is what makes games like Thunderstone click for me, and when I have a 'board game night' with friends, such games are usually my first suggestion.

I regular play YuGiOh at my local manga club and we have recently gotten into playing weiss schwarz since it features so many of our favorite anime.

We constantly get new members who way that people look down on them for playing what is seen as a child's card game, but really i love it. As said before its a great way to meet new people and hey if 30 other people are playing a kids card game you shouldn't really be embarrassed if you do.,\

I always used to battle with my friends. Whether it was Pokemon vs Pokemon or Duel Monster vs Duel Monster
{YU GI OH!}

Don't play em' anymore, but I think that people who still do * applause * are pretty cool.

Observation #1: This person collects Pokemon cards.
Observation #2: This person is an adult.
Observation #3: Few adults collect Pokemon cards.
Observation #4: Mostly children collect Pokemon cards.
Conclusion #1: That makes it a rare occurrence.
Observation #5: Rare is synonymous with unusual, strange, abnormal.
Observation #6: It does not match my interests.
Observation #7: It does not affect me.
Conclusion #2: It does not concern me.

I was once in an anime club back in college where there were two tables just for club members who played Yugioh, Pokemon, Magic, and etc. There were even people who weren't even in the club and played as well. The gender never mattered of course but the tables grew a little bigger.

I never played though unless it was playing cards.

I play Magic every few weeks with a few friends.. I'm not very good, and I stopped buying cards long ago, but it's still fun.

I know stuff like Pokemon was popular when I was young, but it kind of faded out where I am. I think Magic is where it is at now since I see quite a few people actually play it at college. As well as local game stores and such holding tournaments for Magic as well as some of the more obscure games I haven't heard of.

As for my views... well everyone has a hobby, let them enjoy it to the fullest I say.

That's the first thing i think about when i think about cardgames. Really!
What it is? Why did i link a deleted video? Well, as you see some stupid company decided to make a copyright claim on the video. But it was a fandub of the first Yu-gi-oh episode, called the Va**** Monologue.

What i think of people playing card games? Unless you're as epic as Yugi, it's no fun to watch card players play. But you can play all you want, why would i think anything. Lols. Well... i guess i could say what my second thought is when i think of card games. Aside from that video, i also think of a group of people in a basement, when i think of card players.

If card games where highlighted on screens and used digital technology in real life, as they do in anime, then hell who wouldn't be interested in card games?? It'd be more popular than football. Just make the damm screen projectors and hi-tech card games gear already. ;')

It isn't really the so called "childishness" that draws me away from playing. I have a couple hobbies that might be considered "childish", Like watching anime for example. some people see it as watching cartoons, and That to some people is "childish". what draws me away from card games is the price. all my friends who play spent at least 500 or so dollars (this was about a year ago. it might have increased at this point) on cards. and i personally dont believe in paying that much for some paper. if it was a pretty cheap hobby where you dont have to shell out so much to be a competent player, i probably would have gotten into it.

I was thinking Black Jack or poker when I read the title, but the comments cleared it up for me. :p
I do not have a opinion about it besides if a person enjoys playing with Pokemon cards or anything similar they are free to do so.
