Kodansha just launched a manga app/website in English: www.mangabox.me
There are currently four series, with more to be added every day this week. The Attack on Titan spinoff is pretty hilarious. I suspect that these titles may have a decent chance of coming to Crunchyroll, though so far I prefer the iOS app for Manga Box to the Crunchyroll one. It also appears that the online reader doesn't use flash, since I can use the website from my iPad.

So, what do you guys think?

I see no correlation between this website you speak of and Kondasha comics.

this website is owned and registered under DeNA co. Ltd, which is a content provider, and regardless of content, bears no legal markings or reason to believe they are related.

I briefly checked it out, and I do like how, on their online reader, all u have to use are the arrow keys to navigate up and down the page, and to turn the pages back and forth. I do kinda wish there was a way to make it single panel though, but it's not that big of a deal.

I did notice that there doesn't seem to be any easy way to check for the latest news in regards to the site (aside from the tweets that are all in Japanese). I even checked Kodansha's website (the US and Japanese one), and I didn't see MangaBox even mentioned anywhere. Am I missing something?

I'll probably check out the AoT spinoff in a little bit, and I am mildly interested in Knight in the Area as well, since I did really like the anime.

Edit:

v Ah!!! Thx Loreen! Can't believe I forgot to check one of the most logical places, lol. And you're probably right about a possible delay, since I don't think as many people check the Official sites as often as ANN, so ANN would be a great choice to make their 1st announcement of their new product.

There is a news announcement on ANN (and another uk news source) and it does include a link to the website mentioned by the OP. It's possible they have partnered with a third party for the app, and there's just a delay in promoting it on their official sites.

Sorry! I forgot to mention the ANN announcement. I'm trusting that to mean that the website is legal, and the quality of the translation/how clean the manga is supports that, to me. Was that why the link was removed?

It's possible that ANN announcement was false. I actually tweeted Kodansha USA to try and make sure it was legitimate, and they said that site wasn't related to Kodansha USA. But perhaps Kodansha Japan just didn't tell them??? Either way, still no announcement on Kodansha's official site (Japan or US) either, but Kodansha Japan does have another News announcement for today, and yesterday... so they definitely seem to be updating their News section daily.

Anyway, here's the tweet if anyone's interested: https://twitter.com/KodanshaUSA/status/408276702427889664 ~ I ended up responding back to them and giving them the ANN link just to make sure. Hopefully, they'll respond back as to whether there's any credence to that ANN source.

Edit:

Nevermind! I found the news link on Kodansha Japan's site (must've just come out since it's currently 3am over there and the date of the news article is already 12/5):

It seems to me that not related to Kodansha USA doesn't necessarily mean not related to Kodansha Japan, and they may also be in a position where if they know anything, they aren't allowed to say anything. I know that they said that while they are involved in Crunchyroll Manga, Kodansha Japan is the one helming the project.

That's the ANN article for the launch of the Japanese version, and I really wish it had more of a source for that information.
I do notice that the Japanese version has more series available than the English version, specifically the Ghost in the Shell series.

Edit: I guess I took too long to write this post, I see you already found the press release.

After reading the first two days of releases, I can't say I'm impressed. Looks like they're using Knight in the Area and the AoT spinoff to lure people in, but the rest of the series don't stand out. Billion Dogs and Highrise Invasion try to be shocking and fail because the characters are bland and undeveloped, and Can't Ride a Bike builds to a punchline you can see coming from a mile away. I'll take a look at Peephole and School Girl Landlord tomorrow, but I don't expect anything from them.

So I've been keeping up with the new releases from them, and mostly they aren't that good, but there are a few that stand out. My Grandpa's Stories Can't be This Weird was quite funny, and I was surprised to find that In a Heartbeat was a Boy's Love story. It also seems good, but odd when all of the other stories are shonen/seinen.

If you switch languages in the app, you can see that there are about 6 series that are only in Japanese. Two Ghost in the Shell spin-offs, a soccer manga called Shoot (シュート), a four panel manga about girls doing stuff called Sudden Death (さどんです), one called King Game (王様ゲーム) that seems to be about such a game, not as sure about that one, and one that I can't translate.

Also here is the official English press release: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2013-12-05/dena-launches-digital-manga-magazine-platform-for-smart-devices

Has anyone found a way to read any of the in-between issues (Episodes) on a PC? Specifically the ones between the first issue and the last? I don't have an iPhone or an Android, so I'm just trying to view what I can with my laptop, but I don't see any way to get to the ones in-between.

The only one with more than two episodes right now is "Great Phrases Women Fall For", which updates daily. I agree that it seems like there isn't a way to read in between chapters on the web though, which is problematic. On the app you have to select the issue, then the series you want to read. An issue has one chapter of each of the titles. For "Great Phrases Women Fall For" each issue contains something like seven episodes of that title, which you can read all together.

Nope, not piracy. It is a Kodansha product.

As for how good it is, hard to say. I was a bit surprised that EVERYTHING is starting with just one "episode". The reader is a bit clunky on my phone, but works better on my Kindle Fire, but the scans are hard to read when blown up large enough to read... sigh... bad eyes...

I really like a couple of the series so far.

I actually tweeted MangaBox about this issue, and much to me surprise, they responded very quickly (within a couple to several minutes)! U can see my tweet and their responses here if interested.

However, it seems they didn't exactly say "yes" or "no" to my question, but I get the feeling that they probably don't have any plans for it since they immediately brought up that their App was necessary to view them, and for me to check the "recent" on my PC every week since I can't utilize the App.

I've read a few of the mangas now, but the only 2 I think I'm going to continue reading are Spoof on Titan and possibly First Love Suicide Pact. I'm also very interested in the I Was Human one, which just released their 1st issue today! Looking forward to reading that when I finish this post! XD

I agree, the ones I've tried (I'm trying to get around to giving them all at least one attempt) are pretty junky, but I am rather liking First Love Suicide Pact, and I'm temporarily morbidly drawn in by Peephole even though it's junk (I think I'm likely to get bored with or disgusted by it soon).

One thing I really appreciate about the app is that the front page of each issue shows you which "episodes" you haven't read yet. I wish WSJ had that feature.

Also, if you get to the end of an episode and there's a later issue available with the next episode--you can go directly to it.
