a couple reasons why. the fact that it's just about material things and possessions. seems like every year we are forgetting to give to those less fortunate. plus the liquor store is always closed on xmas.

I love Christmas. Or, at least, what Christmas is supposed to be. It is a time of giving, not receiving. A time of selflessness, not selfishness. People too often forget that.

I love giving people gifts. I love the happy Christmas carols. I love the lights and family and holiday programs on TV. I do not love the consumerism, the making of Christmas lists, the crazed shopping that takes a hold of this country like a plague. It makes me sad when I read a news feature on someone that got injured in a Black Friday riot. Really? Is this what we have come to, America? How low can we go? How much farther, past ruing one of the purest days of the year?

Christmas is not about yourself. It's about others. Please remember that.

Have a happy holiday, everyone.

It is an orgy of commercialism with marketing types trying to convince us all that the love of our family and esteem of our friends are commodities we must buy every December, or we will not have in January. It has also become part of the right wing's culture wars.

In the 18th, 19th and a few sects even into the 20th Century, evangelical Christians wanted nothing to do with Christmas. It was a papist excuse to continue a pagan observance of the Winter Solstice. After all, all solar deities were born on the Winter Solstice, which was December 25 on the Julian calendar. They would say that the Gospel mentions shepherds tending to their flock in the fields, this would happen in spring, not winter.

Now Evangelical Christians are trying to cram what their ancestors rejected as heathen idolatry down out throats! Anyone who says "Happy Holidays" is a witch! Burn them!

By the way, Happy Holidays was originally done to please them when they objected to the commercialization of Christmas. Well, you can't have it both ways! I say Bah, Humbug to them all.

I hate Christmas because the junk goes out for sale before Halloween in some cases.

Christmas Music is also a little bit of alright in December, but being blasted 5 levels louder than the normal pa volume gets bothersome.
Especially when you work retail, over and over, same songs... Fortunately every few minutes I used to sneak back and turn it down a little at a time.

The only other thing is that I haven't even finished decorating, and I'll be taking it all down shortly. The year has gone way too fast.

I'm planning to try to find lights that are neutral and fall colors so I can just put my Halloween stuff up, leave it up through January, put little pilgrim hats on the skeletons and spiders for Thanksgiving, and Santa and elf hats on them for Christmas.
Scary Christmas all!

I loathe Christmas because I can't find the joy as an adult that I once felt as a child. It used to be a magical time, a time when you stayed up all night thinking that Santa would be visiting your house. You couldn't wait to open your presents the next day and, in some cases, would sneak out in the middle of the night to look at all of the brightly wrapped packages as they loomed around the tree in the dim light.

As an adult that magic in me is gone. Now, Christmas is a time when I'm the one buying presents for people. And most of the time the presents they buy me are useless things that I will never use, never wear or have no interest in. When I was a child I loved everything. As an adult, I'm so incredibly picky I kind of disgust myself at times.

Christmas songs bring me no joy. In fact, the only song that I can really stand is Silent Night. If I could somehow inject myself with the same Christmas Crack that other people seem to find at this time of year I would in a heart beat. I mean, who doesn't want to be joyful for no reason for an entire month? I certainly don't want to be miserable during the Christmas season.

I think for many adults they find the joy of Christmas again in their children. They see their kids get excited like they did. The gleeful faces of their kid(s) as they open their presents on Christmas day is their reward for battling against others in The Great Consumerism War that resumes during the holiday season every year. So, perhaps, those without children aren't able to share that feeling.

But, even so, I certainly don't want to have kids just to make Christmas merry again for myself. If that's what it takes, well, I think it's ultimately a bad trade.

I hate going on social media around Christmas time because they are plenty of douches bragging about what they got and taking it all for granted. Hey thats cool for you and if you're happy thats great but they are plenty of people in the world who would do anything to have just a Christmas with their family or even get a small gift from someone.
I hate people who think Christmas is just a time for getting whatever you want

"hate" is a strong word, but it is probably one of my least favorite holidays... which is funny because most people I know always say "Christmas is MY favorite holiday!" like they're the only one who thinks that way

but what gets me is that people talking about food, family, Jesus, giving, friends, singing, etc and that's what Christmas is all about but in reality if there was no exchange of gifts, no one would give a crap and they'd treat it like they do every other holiday...

it's really about the gifts, no matter what people say, it's about the gifts. I don't even need to describe what happens during Nov and Dec in retail. And that's probably what I truly despise the most: people lying to themselves about the whole thing.

and if you're like me and never got many gifts then it's just another day bc that's what it's all about hokeypokey

I just dislike pine trees, they make me sneeze.
Also I hate the cold and the early sundown.

Too many people crowding all over, getting close, spreading germs.
If you're sick stay home...
