The Beta only came out yesterday but so far I've been really enjoying it. For those of you who don't know, Starbound's sort of like a spiritual successor to Terraria. If interested you can check it out on http://store.steampowered.com/app/211820/ and the price is pretty good for what your getting. You've just got to bear in mind that it's in Beta so you may run into some bugs/crashes.

So anyone who does play it what do you think so far?

I haven't played it yet, but I know someone who has. I've heard it's pretty challenging.

So to anyone that wants to see/hear more about this game feel free to look at my playthrough (half of it is with a friend) who i get annoyed with to be frank and carry on without.

Anyway yeah, if you want to see what the games like from a newbies perspective, learning as i go just as you would then check it out, i don't think i'm a terrible YouTuber but i am decently new, uploading plenty of vids 3-8 a day. Anyway if you would just try watching a vid and giving me some feedback it would mean the world to me and you would get to check out the awesome game that is starbound!

I got some friends playing it. They seem to like it. I haven't played Terraria but for the price I am willing to join my friends and check out this type of game. I'll give my opinion then.

From what I know it's made by some of the same people, so make sense that it's like Terraria.

It's fun, alot of decoration items and some obvious sorting changes are needed though.

Can't really call it a copycat when it's done by the guy who created Terraria. As someone who's played 30 hours of it, I can safely say, there's enough of a difference between them anyhow. Not to mention, it took all the things Terraria did, and improved upon them vastly

I've been playing this game for a couple of days now in single player to get accustomed to it. It's pretty fun, even solo, but this is a game that's meant to be played with others. Getting everything all by yourself and trying to mine through an entire world to locate all of the various chests is rather slow going, even with the diamond pickaxe.

Since cheats and such work both online and offline there's a lot of trolls in the public servers from what I've read. So, what I was thinking was perhaps seeing about starting a private server (I'd be hosting it) and inviting people from here on CR. That way we can minimize the invasion of trolls and have a fun server where we can cooperate in building up our world, characters, and making an epic space castle.

If you guys would be interested in that let me know and if there's enough interest I'll set it up.

Is there a challenge to it or some sort of goal to keep you playing with single player?
I lost interest in Terraria after offing the bosses pretty easily, I think they could have made that game a bit more difficult.

The game gets continually more difficult as you progress. Also, you're not stuck to a single world like in Terraria - there's different sectors you can visit once you've progressed far enough to re-fuel your ship. From what I'm told, some of them are incredibly difficult and require your guy to be well equipped before even setting foot on the world (otherwise you'll get one-shotted).

Exploring different worlds, building various homes, mining for resources, and just generally improving your weapons and armor (and finding new tech) are the general goals. It actually has a lot more re-playability than Terraria.

Also, the weapons can be kind of awesome too. I just found a purple (rare) axe last night off a boss on my world. The axe shoots acidic projectiles every time you swing it, which allows me to kill groups of enemies easily. It can also dissolve ground titles. Pretty insane axe. Each world has different stuff on it. I found an Avian village on mine where there's various merchants selling clothes, recipes, etc. I also stole two statues while I was there as I thought they'd look awesome at my own house. :)

As I said, it's made to be played with multiple people, but there's still plenty (if not as much) fun to be had in single player too.
