What are your favorite show you gave up on and gave another chance?

Mine are:
FMA Brootherhood-Thought it would be the same as the first series, but boy was I wrong. Liked this adaption 5 times more than the original and it is now one of my favorites.

Hunter X Hunter-put on and turned of mid episode 4-5 times. When I finally started watching I was hooked. Watched 106 episodes in 2 weeks

PsychoPass- Love the show, but had to rematch episode 1 a few times and wasn't sure how it would pan out, ended up loving it and looking forward to season 2.

I did quite the same with HxH, I skipped a few sections of the first episode cause of a little boredom, was considering to stop watching if it didn't get interesting within 4 episodes... luckily 3 episodes is all it took, and spent 3 lifeless days to catch up rofl

as for Psycho-Pass, I'm currently on episode 3... I'm a little bit bored atm, kinda the same thing I did with Steins;Gate, I'm guessing it must get really interesting later on, cause I was considering dropping Steins;Gate after watching 7 episodes, but kept watching and ended up doing a marathon with that one :P

Watched the first two eps of cowboy bebop, thought it was boring and left it for over a year, came back and watched up to episode 6 and got hooked. First 4 eps are a bit of a drag but the rest of the show is golden.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam for me.

That show opens with Kamille Bidan and tells us his our main character, then goes out of their way to showcase how stupid, cruel, anti-social, and bratty Kamille is. He punches a dude for saying the kid's name sounds girly off handedly, then when he's arrested instead of explaining to the cop what happens he just refuses to talk.
The cop just wants the kid's name so he could be sent off with a warning or something...this kid's an ass.

THEN, once the kid escapes from the jail, he steals a car and drives it into nowhere, then steals a Gundam only to try and KILL THE COP FROM EARLIER.

What an ass.

By the time you reach episode 15, you've grown to understand his character, if not like him. The show purposefully star's an unlikable kid protaganist, who grows older and more experienced until he IS a likable character. It's among my favorite anime of all time now, but the opening really rubb'ed me the wrong way at first. IT was masterfully done however, and I'm glad I finished the show.

uncletim-I think they did a pretty good job of condenscing all the info into one episode(could see it being kind of boring though), I loved that show .

My-HiME. I expected another fanservice heavy series that had limited storytelling capabilities. I kept watching due to the premise, though, and then not only did the fanservice completely disappear the second half of the series, the whole TONE of the series shifted to something I can't really say I expected. Suffice to say, I ended up enjoying it a whole lot.

Spice and Wolf and The Eccentric Family. Thought their first episodes were slow. And yet they are two of the only series I have legitimately marathoned to completion. Most other series I'd take breaks and just watch the episodes in small chunks(if the series was over). These just sucked me in after the first episode.

Medaka Box. Jesus. H. Christ. The first time I tried reading the manga I hated EVERYTHING about it. Then people told me drops its average comedy plot and goes batshittingly awesome.

AND IT DID Its currently my favorite manga of all time now!

The funny thing is, all three of my top three favorite shows of all time, I initially didn't care for. One Piece, Black Lagoon and Gintama. I watched the first episode of One Piece and didn't look at it again for years. I decided to give it another shot, and still didn't care for it. It wasn't until I got to the part where Lucky Roo shot the bandit in the head in episode 6 that it finally caught my attention. From there, it just kept getting better and better.

The first episode of Black Lagoon didn't catch me, either. I put it to the side and was never going to watch it again, but I kept hearing everyone rave about it, so I thought I'd give it one more chance. I'm glad I did.

With Gintama, the first two episodes were okay, but not that funny. I had so many other shows to watch, I didn't really care to come back to it. I'm not really sure why I did, but in the third episode, I don't know what happened, but it just got 1,000 funnier. I've been hooked ever since.

When They Cry. The first few episodes were kinda slow and I wanted to drop it. I watch anime until at least the 3rd episode. That's when it picked up

I DID give up on Gurren Lagann the first time. What a fool I was! Now it's one of my all time favorites.
