I don't really have complaints about CR and if the price for premium go up a dollar or two, let it be as long as it isn't super expensive. People who just complain about how change will make things worse are mainly thinking from that perspective(being biased). Yeah on an article he boast about having majority control but it doesn't always mean that it'll change CR a bunch and even if it does change can be good sometimes. I have a bunch of people added on here and I know for a fact that this isnt the only site they use and it isnt the only site I use. You can give me a list of anime and I can guarantee I've watched over half of them not only from this site but from others as well. CR has my support has long as it doesn't get too pricey cause many of the users I know are in somewhat of school and funds aren't always high like mine. You need to cut Shinji some slack cuz he's also affected by this too.

PS~ Im someone who spends WAY too much time on CR

Believe it or not, but premium used to be 5$ a month just a few month ago. Now its over 6$. I didnt even know that until i checked my purchase history. So whos to say they wont be gradually increasing it over time?

It will be interesting to see the impact of TCG on Crunchyroll in the following year. If they are indeed simply investors with a minimal impact on decision making within the organization, the community should expect things to relatively remain the same within the next year. Unfortunately, the details are sorely lacking with this announcement and, as such, premium members have every right to be wary of new investors as many of us have renewed on Black Friday and are locked in for at least another 12 months. As voiced by many other users, I will discontinue my membership if ads become a part of premium memberships or prices drastically change. There are competitors.

Keep paid membership ad-free, and continue getting the majority of the simulcasts, and you guys get to keep my membership.

I've heard horror stories about the company that invested in, but with the way you guys are running the site so far (especially with the manga update; I totally frikking love that), I'm going out on a limb and have faith that you guys know what you are doing.

Looking forward to more j-dramas (no, majority of k-dramas don't interest me though the majority of drama watchers prefer the korean ones); get Clinic on the Sea pretty please?

Crunchyroll's had investors for years. Why do you think Chernin's going to be worse than the Rockefellers whose stake he bought out?

I remain optimistic for now, but if there are any blatant or huge changes to the site that is clearly aimed at gaining profit, then I will probably cancel my membership. If ads do end up on premium-paid subscriptions, then what's the difference between premium and non-premium subscribers?

But, I'll remain positive. Hopefully this leads to bigger and better things

Because he said he bought control + wants to add different media to CR other then just anime and drama.

This is just like when Amazon bought Goodreads. Everybody freaked out about Amazon taking complete control and saying "you can post that in reviews" and changing the database completely. In reality, the only thing we can't post in reviews since Amazon bought GR is nasty stuff about authors that have nothing to do with the book (because that got pretty out of hand). As for the database, the "other editions" function has been changed slightly, but none of the information has been dramatically changed from what I've seen. There hasn't been that much of a noticeable change and it still feels like the same GR.

I imagine it'll be the same here at CR. Everybody is freaking out over nothing. You won't know how the exchange effects the website until it actually begins to effect the website. Why is that whenever there is a change in the norm people react negatively?

we actually looked into something like this... the problem is books/magazines are really heavy and shipping is really expensive from japan.. either you pay a lot to ship quickly, or it takes weeks/months to ship and it'll be dated

Well um since your adding a new investor, maybe CR could sell imports too sometime soon?
Like for instance the upcoming 2014 line up of shonen jump magazines with the Gintama spine illustrations?
If not, pointing out the direction where one could procure those books would be awesome.

When i signed up for premium it was 5$ cause i remeber i wasnt willing to pay anything over that since i was on a tight budget for college. Must have been a deal or something. I remember comparing Funi an Cr and thought that Funi was so much more expensive then CR that why i went with CR.
now they are almost the same price

I'm going to be optimistic about this. Hopefully this means less buffering issues in the future. (I'm about ready to pull my hair out trying to watch valvrave right now)
