Investing in a company is different than selling it.
More like a financial merger. Investors don't have legal rights over the company. Just a slice of the pie as the company grows.

Congrats Crunchyroll!

After reading comments about the recent new investor Crunchyroll has acquired recently, I'm surprised (somewhat) that the feedback has been as negative as it has. My thought is that an investor gives money to companies it wants to support. Said companies receive money to promote their product and brand. Crunchyroll has made a name for itself as being one of the few legitimate online streaming websites, and one that has a great variety, timeliness, and general service towards anime and its fans to be recognized worldwide, and I include myself in that.

I am currently an anime subscriber. I first visited CR when I heard that the money that flows into the site (and in large part) goes directly to the studios in Japan. I liked that when I first heard it when I first visited and I still like it today. It's the overall concept that by supporting the service I enjoy that provides me the anime that I enjoy, I can support the continued creation and development of even more anime. The new investor allows CR to have more resources to do what it wants and needs to do to continue to provide and improve the great service I and so many others already enjoy.

I would like to thank Shinji and the other staff at Crunchyroll for providing the service and content that I continue to enjoy. I am glad that it remains the same affordable service it was when I first became a subscriber and love the new anime that comes out and is featured each new season. I've been exposed to many anime series and seasons through CR and I don't expect that to change any time soon.

Thanks again for your great work.

If things will improve and turn out great, I'm all for it.
But if ANYTHING gets worse (and I mean ANYTHING), I'll be gone in an instant.
I'm paying because I want to, not because I have to.
Stay cool and I'm cool.

Grats Crunchyroll. Peter Chernin is a nice get experience wise for the site.

This guy is a huge name in entertainment finance and production folks. A Huge name. Try checking wikipedia or googling him before you scream.

Hopefully the officers and management got nice long guaranteed contracts prior to giving up controlling interest.

Looks like TCG will utilize Crunchyroll tech to take on the big 3. That should be a net positive for us as it will mean one hell of a server farm for one thing.

We all know Anime is anemic on the big 3. It was a smart play by Chernin to anchor whatever he creates with the loyal center of the CR audience. He can easily do so without changing this site if he so wishes.

With some of these reactions its no wonder most companies keep investors secret.

Maybe. Kinda hard to do when the company that bought you out is eagerly talking to the media about their bold new plans, though.

So does this mean you can hire some more engineers to work on the new Roku App? I know there have been technical setbacks but I've been waiting/paying for HD Crunchyroll on Roku for almost two years now.

It'd be nice if they also fixed the terrible PS3 App, and whatever issue that causes simucast stuff not to play on time and/or not have subtitles when trying to play them on console / smart tv app.
