I'm interested in switching to all access but I can't seem to find a way to do that. I've looked on the website which directs me to the App Store where I am unable to find an upgrade method but where it mentions in app purchases but the app seems to have no mechanism for this either.

I have looked at the subscription screen in iTunes from my computer and while it will allow me to cancel, it provides no method for upgrade.

I have an Apple TV, an iPad, an iPhone, and iTunes on both Mac and PC. In none of those places could I find any way to upgrade.

I currently have anime access, though the website seems to believe I have "premium", and it seems I can watch the dramas.. But not read manga. Little confused

Thanks

To clarify (because I've seen confusion about this before), there are four types of "Premium" membership. Basically, if you pay CR for access you are a Premium Member:

You can be an Anime Premium Member
You can be a Drama Premium Member
You can be a Manga Premium Member
You can be an All-Access Premium Member

The Crunchyroll app on iOS that you watch anime on will also let you watch drama--but if you are an Anime Member you should see ads when you watch the drama. There's a separate app for manga, and I'm not sure exactly what the status of that was, but I think at the moment it only allows you to see (a limited amount of) manga via the "Take the tour" feature, unless you have a Manga membership or All Access membership (but that will also depend on what region you are in).

On the website, if you are in a region that the manga is available for, you should be able to read the most recent simulpub chapter, but not any earlier chapters, unless you are a Manga member or All-Access member.

beardfist I did try that earlier, and I get the same result as now.

Your membership was purchased through iTunes. Please change your membership through the App Store on your device.

Again, I've looked in the App Store, and at iTunes, and there doesn't appear to be any kind of feature allowing you to deal with subscriptions like crunchyroll, or to upgrade them in any manner. Mind that I've tried this on EVERY device I own (iPad, iPhone, Apple TV, and OS X Mavericks) directly in the app.

*However* from each device there is a round about way to get to a feature (Store -> View My Account on the computer), which opens a webpage inside the app allowing you to manage subscriptions. All of this is outlined in a support document: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4098

Inside the View My Account feature I can locate the "Anime Membership [Crunchyroll]" subscription, but there are no renewal options of any kind that would allow you to upgrade to All Access. So, I guess there is no upgrade path?

I suppose canceling is an option, maybe the only option, but that immediately shuts off Crunchyroll, and you loose the money you spent if you aren't at the very end of the month.. So, not a *nice* option. $6.99 still has value in my world.

-------

Thanks for the clarification lorreen! Now I understand why I can see the dramas. I do have the manga app installed, and it does exactly what you say. It tells me I need the All Access membership, and that is what I am trying to obtain now :)

It looks like you emailed us as well!
Unfortunately because the initial purchase was through iTunes, everything is in their database and they do not currently support upgrades.

If there's anything further I can help with, please let me know.

Best,

Hi Baker, yes.. The answers here were helpful but not definitive. Emailing support rendered the answer you mention here now. So, that's what I will do! Thanks!!

Edit: I should mention the actual solution here for anyone else that happens along looking for the same.

Solution: turn off auto-renew via iTunes/App Store, and wait until the expiration to occur. Then either subscribe to the desired package via the app again, or here on the website where you have more freedom to manage your account.

Best,
Niaht
