The creator of the series plans on changing the original ending to The Mist ending instead. As for the fans of this series, how do you feel about him changing the ending?

My Turn:

I'm probably the small few of fans that is focus on something completely different than everyone else. I rather not have this a flashback or "dream" series revealed at the end of the chapter/episode.

Explain your opinion in great detail.
Thanks a bunches.

Other way around. He's making it "non traumatic", as it were. Meaning, most likely plot armor rules the day and nobody important or remotely important dies horribly. The Titans are defeated and humanity is saved. Woo-hoo. Then again, you may be going by the novella and not the movie.

Isayama is reluctant to slaughter his cast.

However, one of the more substantial changes to the series' direction is that he was abandoned plans for an audience traumatizing ending. He had been thinking about something along the lines of the Frank Darabont adaptation Stephen King's The Mist, but response to the series, and especially his anime adaptation has left him unable take that path, and a bit lost. With all the support that the series has received, he didn't want to slam the fans with a traumatic conclusion.

The original ending was going to be very grim, with a lot of character deaths. However, now the mangaka is going to change the ending somehow, because he doesn't want to offend the anime fans? That is an absolute kind of retarded.

I mean, if you're going to change the ending to YOUR OWN WORK just to pander to fans of an adaptation of your work, than you need to stop and really think about what you're doing. I can understand caring for the fans, but in the end it is YOUR story and your fears regarding the opinions of others should not be strong enough to change it. You cannot please everyone, because if you try to, you could end up pleasing no one. And judging from his words, the ending seems like it is going to be very forced at the least, and a complete trainwreck at worst.

I also question his faith in his fans, to an extent. "W-well I don't think they can handle this so I guess I'll make it happier so they aren't upset." What? If the fans enjoy the manga already, then they'll most likely be okay. Yours would not be the first wholesale slaughter ending, Mr. Kyojin, and I think your fans would be able to deal with the loss of their waifus and sexy boys.

Instead of everyone dying it's more of a lets hold hands and sing about the joys of living type thing?

Not necessarily that, but nobody important gets offed. There could be lots of angst, tragedy, pain, and whatnot before it's over, but nobody important (main cast) is going to die. If anything, an unlikely possibility. Ultimately, I think humanity is going to be saved and rebuilt or something another with maybe a "Ten years later" time skip or something generic like that. Hopefully not, we'll see.

Take Texhnolyze as an example, it's hopeless from the beginning and filled with despair, but at the very end of it all, a glimmer of hope — that quickly fades away as

I'm not saying Attack on Titan should have that type of ending, but that the author should stick with what he originally went with and not cater to his fans to such an extent as he's in the process of doing.

Do you want everyone to die before they even reach the outside walls but after learning about what is in the basement? Then you have to question what outside the gate is like and is it just as worst as having them all die horribly.

True. I just wonder if having all the characters die before they could touch the gate to the outside is better than having everyone make it outside the gate to see something they were never even expecting....in a bad way.

...I'm sorry, what?

What does the outside wall have to do with anything?

Just pray that the ending won't leave open more for a dozen questions.

I point you to Texhnolyze again.

Also this.

This is why I like writing fan fiction — I can come up with my own ending, which I am currently. So to speak.

Do you want to know about the outside of the walls. I do agree with you on how he should stick to his own original ending even if it means everyone dying.

Well, they haven't even made it to the basement yet. Forget the outside world.

The King can do whatever he wants with his manga.

Indeed they haven't but I'm still curious about outside though. Do you read the manga by any chance?
