I honestly don't find a bunch of cars going in a circle 300 times entertaining, no offense to whoever does.

Ok!! I'll take you guys straight...I'm a pro racer at a Midget Touring Car Championship.....Grip is more faster than drift even veteran racers will tell it to you straight out. but DRIFT is the most exciting way to get into corners.....I prefer both!!!

a midget race? LOL, how short are you? and uh. i gotta agree with FreekCotan. I don't find it interesting with a whole lot of cars drifting around so many times amusing.

im 5'11 ft tall .. Its more fun to be the person Drifting than being the person watching. unless its D1GP or skilled underground drifters lol.. you arent supposed to double post either..

Powersliding was actually a very commonly used technique in road racing before the electronic days. When you had larger, rear drive cars it was difficult to be able to use the brake to slow way down then try and get your revs back up and re-accelerate. To compensate, some drivers would purposely slide the car into the turn to reduce speed but keep on the throttle to keep the engine revving. The driver would readjust himself at the end of the turn to get his grip back and then power out of the turn.

But with modern electronics and even modern tire technology, this has become the slower technique...it's still wicked looking though. Watch and old trans-am race from the late 60's or a historic race to see what I'm talking about.

*sidenote* - I live in michigan where "drifting" is what we do to go through a turn in the winter and not end up in a snow drift. I've had my car sideways so often I could be a pro rally driver tonight if I had the offer.

Both are fine. I think drifting is better than understeering so.....

What you said about trans am does not make any sense. The cars were using N/A engines. I would think they would do that to get rid of the understeer when braking into a corner so the driver would be the LSD.

You understeer when you drift. That is how you maintain the control.
