"Are you learning how to drift? I can teach you. We'll find an empty parking lot and go sideways together."
"Sounds good"
"I park sideways!" <--- Me
"F you"

God I love people.

apex is the key.

it also depends completely on the corner.

90% of the time though, hitting the apex just right and sticking a corner will be faster.

drifting is all about style.

heres some examples

professional racing.

Formula 1

you're a lot faster when you're not taking time to set up for a stylish slide.

drifting??? why waste my brand new tires

Id say drifting is alot faster. You can really enter a corner and go from corner to corner. If dont with the correct technique of course. 6 of em..if you mastered em then ya it would be worth it. and its so much funner lol

My car has open diff - so it sucks to drift right now. When I go to drifting events I have to go at higher speeds than everyone else and when I do - I got one tire spinning it's ass off, while the other is like: "HAAARRRRR" and although I can get side ways the control and snap back is a painnnn. Never drifted with anything besides open diff so... yeah.

reading this hurts so much....

drifting is not, i repeat, IS NOT FASTER then gripping a corner.

first off, in order to drift you burn off a bunch of speed going through the turn, so while your entry speed may be higher, your exit speed is terrible.

secondly, why over complicate things? seriously, the fastest method is always the simplest. throwing in extra junk into your cornering method simply keeps you distracted from other things.

third, the damage you would do to your tires is just ghastly. if it were a multilap race, any time you potentially gained while drifting would be lost in the pit having to replace tires so often.

and finally, sorry to break your hearts kids, but even Keichi Tsuchiya himself admits drifting is not the fastest way to take a turn.

and on that note, i leave you with some words from the drift king himself:
"I drift because it is not the fastest way around a corner, but the most exciting"

as i said. ya. maybe its not faster but u never know. An experienced vs an amateur. Depends on the driver really. That said. i dont mind tires going out so much. Its the thrill and joy drifting. N why would you do it in a race? Unless it was a drift competition yah. lol I think orido is taking over dk.

amateur vs pro is a redundant argument, seriously, if i used that line of argument, i could say going backwards twice>>>>>racing properly simply because pro>>>>amateur. in the end, if two racers are on par with each other, grip>>>drifting because of faster exit speed and less stress placed on the tires

Grip:
-less wear on the tires
-less time taken
-less skill needed
-less accidents

Drift:
-more time taken
-more wear on the tries
-expensive after a while
-more skill needed to control the car
-stupid deaths from amatures tryin 2 drift in the mountains cuz they think they can because they've dun it in the streets..

I think that drifting is gd but the damn amature who think they can drift dont make it look gd at all!
STICK 2 GRIP IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO DRIFT!!
