REASONS WHY I THOUGHT IT WAS GOOD. : Had the feel to Sword art online and Accel World

MMO/Game anime.

REASONS WHY I DROPPED IT.

Opening i didn't like after the first 45 secounds

I didn't really like it

Didn't have the "dark" feel compared to sword art online. Their stuck inside a game and if they die they Actually die irl

So tell me.

Does the anime get better?

Opinions please.

Absolutely the best show of the season, hands down.

The trick is that it's not actually like SAO at all, it's a lot more like Maoyu or even more, Spice & Wolf.

So it does take a different mindset, but it's well worth it.

Some specific things:

I agree the OP is laughably bad, it's like a Japanese man trying to do Limp Biskit covers.

It is NOT an action show! There are some action elements, but they're few and far between. If anything I"d describe it as a 'fantasy procedural'. A lot of the fun (seems like for a lot of people) is trying to figure out what's going on and what the plan is ahead of time, and to make connections. I'd imagine it'd lose some of (but not too much of) the fun if you read ahead in the Novels (of course you'd have that fun from the novels then).

It is certainly not dark at all, it has an overwhelming positive vibe... kind of like Lord of the Flies inverted. It's about building a society rather than trying to escape.

I think it's a better MMO show than SAO, it doesn't keep reminding people of the fact so much, but there are a TON of subtle references to MMO culture (and it's problems) and even jokes about MMO tropes. Also you see a real variety of character classes and skills, as compared to SAO. If you're into MMO's there's a lot to mine from that.

Also, and this is important to me, it's very different from the standard anime fare. It's a thinking show not action porn.

Sorry but personal threads aren't allowed in the forums, so I"m closing this. If you're willing to risk exposure to spoilers in passing, I suggest asking in the Log Horizon Discussion Thread:

/forumtopic-822955/log-horizon-discussions

Otherwise, please ask in one of these two threads:

/forumtopic-7173/recommend-me-an-anime-read-first-post (this is a little different than what folks usually ask there, but it does fit the general parameters of a recommendation request, and I'm sure those who have seen Log Horizon would be happy to provide opinions)

/forumtopic-10664/the-anime-help-thread (also a bit atypical, but this is the catchall thread for personal inquiries related to anime)

I myself watched the first few episodes of Log Horizon, and it just didn't hold my interest so I dropped it and have no plans to ever watch it. There's plenty of other anime I'm sure to enjoy more. That doesn't necessarily mean anything about what you should do though!
