Mahn-GaH! is the decided title to the manga due to amount of fun I found in saying it out loud. Contrary to what the title of the thread says, I've decided to tone down the satire out of concern for setting up expectations that I would have to fulfill. Any way, given how short life is, I decided that creating my own manga would be one of the achievements I would accomplish in life. The references I want to draw out in m manga will be obvious, yet at the same time I want to try something a bit original. It will mainly be an action comedy (utilizing Western and Eastern humor) sort of shtick, but I do want the tone of the plot to evolve as the story progresses utilizing themes such as escapism and friendship.

Essentially, the story is about manga jumping. Kind of like in Wreck-It-Ralph, except with manga and anime. The main protagonist, an American English teacher who works in Japan encounters a mysterious manga book and is subsequently taken into a world of manga along with a problematic student from his class. The goal for the unlikely duo is to escape from this reality by "completing" each chapter of the book by fulfilling specific requirements within each universe before moving onto the next chapter.

Oh my sweet Jiminny Christmas on Fire with Explosions and Cats thats a LOT OF TEXT, NO WONDER THIS TOPIC DIDN'T GET ANY REPLIES DAYUM.

Just with a brief glance over, I gather the characters aren't very well fleshed out on their own, and just serve as a means to tell the story better.

You should have more than just tropes, you need interesting characters that the audience will fall in love with.

Also, why are there Sagas and Arcs? I mean is this like a big 'ol long thing like Bleach, where you have the Hollow and Bount Arcs etc?

Haha yeah I guess it is a pretty daunting sight and I will fix it in the future, but to explain some of the characters, a majority of them are cliched characters with little originality to them, but I do want to flesh them out and really give them some personality through my storytelling and humor.

The story will span different settings that represent different manga genres and won't literally have sagas or arcs. Those are just place holders until I can come up with generic names for the settings. Like for example, the first setting will take place in a shounen universe where the main characters will start out in which is an Edo Japan setting where they would have to help the protagonist of that universe find his inner potential and defeat the greater evil, then move onto the next genre.

I knew I would have to clear that up eventually since it does seem confusing, but thanks for addressing it

Guys and gals, I need some help! Can anybody give me some generic names for a samurai manga and a slice of life manga? It doesn't have to be fancy!

Samurai manga.. Blade Vanguard? Deadly Scroll? Ronin?
Only real ones I know is samurai champloo, kenshin, and samurai deeper kyo. I figure just add blade or katana in there and you got it.

Lover's Blade, Bloody Fields, Lost Honor. Something like that maybe? Those could be excellent b-grade action flicks.

I didn't read anything but I like your premise a lot. Do it right, please.

Also is this similar to the Abenobashi arcade anime?

Yeah two kids are trapped in different genres. It's based more on western genres, according to wikipedia, although dating sims are mentioned. I think yours is sufficeintly different though.
I didn't actually watch the series, just saw it on toonami one time, and gathered the basic premise.

Whoa, gotta watch it . I like how dark the premise was for a comedy and I can draw slivers of similarity from my story, but I've honestly never heard of it until you told me.

Just named the shounen-themed universe: Ronin: Wandering Samurai and the slice of life-themed universe: The Not-So-Mundane Life of High School Super Star Hiroko and Her Unique Cohorts.

Any opinions?
