The pokemon question is incorrect. We see zapdos on it's feet in the second pokemon movie. Thus making all the possible answers incorrect.

Striketh wrote10 questions of varying difficulties which should put even the highest level of Otaku to the test.

I'm not that knowledgeable and I got them right. They are mainstream question - NGE, GitS, FotNS, the Otaku killer, longest-running anime, Pokemon. And in regards to anime and otaku, you should know how the words you use are used and what they mean.

Managed 80% on this one. Couldn't remember the license plate in GitS, I think the last time I watched it was a few months after it's release. It wasn't that bad of a general knowledge quiz.

Fun stats time! Over 100 people have taken the quiz so far with some interesting results. I'll spoiler it out just to hide the questions for those that haven't taken it yet, but the answers are all blocked out so no worries on spoilers.

The numbers on the right show the percentage of people that answered each question correctly. ;)

haha I think the reason why percentage for number 3 is so high is because if I remember correctly there were only 2 multiple choices for that one.

Technically, this should be a question that everyone gets 100% on. It's basically a freebie question. I put it in there because I see it used incorrectly on here all the time. :)

I got 33% but I don't think that there is an answer to question 3.

:)

I don't actually consider that a reason due to the fact that the word "animation" is a singular noun. The sentence "I watched 40 animation this year" is incorrect. Anime rolls off the tongue better though and that still stands to be the only viable reason that "anime" seems to be used both pluraly and singularly.

60% but most of that comes from multiple choice test taking skills rather than otaku knowledge

This. So much of this. Seriously, this test is just silly. How are you supposed to know those even if you're a hardcore otaku with amazing MAL stats. I personally think those bars represent your "level of otakuness" the best.

Got 70% right btw. But I frankly pretty much relied on educated guesses.

The otaku question really isn't fair. Both House and Geek are correct answers in modern Japanese. The quiz did not ask about formal/old Japanese. If I were to ask you what the word "bouncer" was, you wouldn't tell me it is "Something big; a good stout example of the kind." Instead, you'd likely say "A member of security personnel employed by bars, nightclubs, etc to maintain order and deal with patrons who cause trouble." This isn't because you don't know english, but because that is the more correct answer, even if the usage is informal.

Edit: Definitions from Wiktionary

Edit 2: Honestly, the question should have said something like "お宅 (otaku)" to make it clear what you were referring to. Written in hiragana (おたく), otaku doesn't mean house, but instead means "geek, nerd; one who is obsessed with something to the exclusion of such things as social interaction." It isn't even considered informal usage by wiktionary.

The only question I got right was what the plural of anime was. The other questions were mostly things I've never heard of before.
