I probably would top at 65-70 for one series of anime, Depending on how many parts it has. (Ghost in the shell is the only exception since i bought both series and all the movies).

The most expensive series(on DVD case) i bought was OREIMO the first season with the OVAs. Payed i think almost 70 on it.

Going by what Stonewolfe said, you have to take shipping costs into account. For instance, I decided since I loved Time of Eve so much to import it from Japan. It would have been $30 for the full Blu-Ray. Well, tack on an extra $40 for shipping and it's now $70. That was the remastered web-series and now the movie version is going to be released with a dub for $50 overseas because of that kickstarter and frankly, I think it works best as a movie, so if I'd known about it sooner I would have shelled out $50 for a secured copy, especially considering it is going to come with an English dub, but alas... I'm still going to get it though

You just missed the import at $25 on rightstuf.com.

Oh, I know. I ordered it months before when it wasn't on Rightstuf. Just my luck, eh?

I only buy anime movies. I never found it absolutely necessary to purchase physical copies of shows. But so far as movies go, if i include rebuying Princess mononoke on DvD after having first bought it on VHS, $55 in total me thinks.

It varies. I think I just dropped $600 at TRSI. Of course, the average per disc was probably about $12 once all was said and done.

Back in the day of singles, I would usually drop about $120 for a 26 episode series, about half that for a 12-13. Which was about average for the time.

The LE's for Hack/Sign were pretty spendy, but it was only 1 season, so I do not think it was more than about $240.

I believe each of the GitS:SAC LE's were about $40, so that was about $240 -$280. Twice. Since I got the LE's for both seasons, and I think it was 7 discs, it might have been 6. It has been awhile since I looked at those boxes.

I believe Naruto holds the record for the most I have spent so far on a series. As that is about $25 per box, and I am at about 30 or so boxes for Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden.

More recently, I think the most I have generally spent was about $52 on some NIS America shows.

I am pretty sure I have rejected Aniplex's pricing and refused to buy any of their shows until the price has come down. I really want SAO, but I am not paying $40 for 5-6 episodes.

The sad thing is 5 years ago I probably would have paid $160 for a series. But this is 2013, and Aniplex needs to get it's pricing in line with R1. We are not R2J.

If I like a series and I have the money to buy it, I'll buy it. I never really thought about how much I'm spending. I'm horrible with money...

I'll spend about 50-60 bucks tops. And I’ll only buy it if I can’t watch the whole thing legally online. To be honest I’ll probably stop buying dvd's and switch to just buying online anime memberships, because it seems if you wait long enough almost everything becomes available... about a year or two ago I bought the whole fate stay night series for like 50-60 bucks (rewatched it several times), but I just noticed last week that they added it to hulu. Can’t help but feel I wasted my money a little bit (Even with all the rewatching I’ve done).

How much I'm willing to spend is pretty-well dependent upon how badly I want the series/movie in question. I've passed up a lot of titles because I thought they were too expensive, but somehow I seem to own the things I really want.

I wouldn't want to go over $50, unless it's really offering me a lot, and it's a series I adore. That said, there's not too many I really do want to buy right now, except for Attack on Titan whenever it comes out, and Magi The Labyrinth of Magic. However, Magi is incredibly expensive, IMO, split into part 1 and 2, each part is $75. $150 for 24 episodes, a booklet and a few postcard arts? That's a lot. Even on sale at RightStuf, it's still very expensive for that.

The most I'll buy when it comes to anime merchandise is-

Bags(messenger and/or tote)
Apparel(T-shirts, hoodies, and/or jackets)
Manga
Wigs(depends though)
Poster/Wall scrolls
Plushies
Anime props

I'm willing to spend a little over $500 to $900 of my own money. If I still have some of that money left, I'll use for something non-anime related or save it.
