I was working a construction job remodeling a church ,(Long before safety harnesses were mandatory),and I threw up my arms to scare away some incontinent pigeons, lost my balance, fell 10 feet, and found myself wedged and dangling between beams 20 feet above the floor.I pulled myself out amid riotous laughter from my co workers. I gingerly limped home 2hours early with some really ominous looking bruises and my former wife asked me why I forgot the milk?

The tear doesn't bother me. I had to work around it to get my ears re-pierced, but it doesn't hurt at all. In fact, most people don't notice, or just don't say anything. Apparently I said I didn't even feel when it came out either.

That's good that it doesn't bother you and causes no real issues. It would suck if something so small became a big deal for whatever reason.

Out of all the times I've accidentally hurt myself, which has been quite a bit over the years. One moment comes to mind above all else. I've once cut myself on the plastic from some cup ramen. It drew a small drop of blood and didn't hurt more than a paper cut without the lasting sting. I was shocked by that simple fact that the plastic cut my finger. It was a stubborn cardboard label that wouldn't tear off with a little bit of force. Also, I was a little bit of a rush as I had to walk to the post office that day to submit a manuscript. When it didn't open up easily, I decided to quickly and forcibly open the thing. The little corner where the plastic is hard at the seams never crossed my mind that it could also be a malicious object.

Peculiar minor injuries such as that example is a strange recurrence in my life. I've had other moments where the injury was more severe than that one, but it's one that I'm fond of in telling it's brief yet odd story.

As a kid, jumping on a bed, ceiling fan on top, it sliced my eyebrow and had to get stitches.

Middle school, broke my finger when I was playing football, went out to reach the fumbled football, someone crossed in front of me, broke my middle finger.

Too many to remember but, roller blades, skateboards, bicycle crashes and fails.

Now I play it safe as much as possible.

When I was 10 me and my friend were playing tag on the playground. He hid underneath the platform I was on and jumped out and screamed. This scared the living shit out of me and I screamed while turning back around, only to realise that there was a metal pole there. Before I knew it my two front teeth were cracked and lying on the ground.

Felt like an idiot, because being the stupid kid I was I picked up the fragments of my teeth and went to the school infirmary and asked if they could fix it -_-

When I was about 7 some of the teenagers next door cheered me on to go down a huge, paved hill in a little plastic Megablocks wagon. I tried to slow myself down with my feet, but got flipped around backwards. I crashed into my little brother at the end of the hill going fairly fast.

I bet my sister I could jump out of the club house and land on my feet. I stuck the landing perfectly..... however I displaced a small bone in my foot. I had to stay in a wheel chair for the next couple of months, I was the cripple ninja for holloween.

I was eating once and there was a knock at the door. I brought my fork with me when I went to answer it. After I'd seen what the knocker wanted, I closed the door - with the fork. I had it braced on my forefinger and thumb, pointing outward, and just pushed the door closed with the tines. Once the door had reached the frame, it stopped. The fork also stopped. My thumb? Not so much.

And that is the story of how I cut myself with the underside of a fork.
