I never used YouTube that much to begin with, but it's so ubiquitous, it's highly unlikely it will fall any time soon. Not until a real competitor rises to take its place. That hasn't happened yet.

About the copyright issue... Yeah. Seems like it really isn't fair to a lot of YouTubers. But, if people do start to leave, where will they go? Like I said, there's no real competitor to YT out there. And a lot will have to leave for any difference to be made whatsoever. This may be the very early start to something, but it will take years for any changes to start appearing.

And in response to other comments, I don't care as much as others about the G+ integration, really. Google's consolidating all of its services. Makes sense from a business standpoint. I made a G+ account a while ago because my Android phone kept prompting me to. Never used it. No harm, no foul. I get that people don't like being forced into something like that, and I agree that it shouldn't happen that way, but making a G+ account has not harmed me in any way, so I just don't care in this particular case.

Just watch the video, then answer the thread if you want.

I love how the first few F-bombs were bleeped, and then he was just like to hell with it.

Google must have been under a lot of pressure to do this. It doesn't benefit them at all.

Not surprising, they spent quite a bit of money fighting off Viacom and they probably still spend quite a bit dealing with the millions of take down notices and the inevitable mistakes and abuses that go with them. Anything to reduce liability, and in the case of YouTube they can say they have gone above and beyond what is required by the DMCA.

Hahaha I've seen that in the comments as well. Pretty hilarious.

Why does anyone care?

I find youtube amusing sometimes, and often useful (especially for product reviews and such) but who needs attention so badly that they will give up their personal information (including phone number) to post videos of their cats? That is both incredibly narcissistic and incredibly dangerous.

All that is needed to learn EVERYTHING about you is a name and a city, or a phone number, or an age and address. If your name is common, an approximate age or a relative's name is helpful to narrow down which bland name is the one being sought out. www.intellus.com will look up phone numbers, addresses, and background checks for a couple of bucks, including addresses of family members. Why would anyone be so stupid as to simply give that information away for cat videos?

So, the way I figure it is that the only people actually upset by youtube issues are narcissists who require constant affirmation of their artificially-inflated egos and fools who don't realize that posting that "cute" video of their little sister might get her raped.

If youtube does die, all the better. It'll just add 45 seconds to my search the next time I have to look up a product review.

I stopped using google a while back when 7/10 search results flooded with copyright infringement notices. I use bing now.

It'll be interesting to see what replaces YouTube. Maybe we would all start using NicoNico (or whatever it's name is now)

I still can't get the hang of the layout. >-< But if things get worse, then yeah, NicoNico's a good alternative.

Untill YouTube gets any serious competition YT and Google can do whatever the hell they want no matter how 'effing illogical it is and the users can do nothing about it except bend over and take it as they keep on getting screwed over and over again as they have been for years.
It doesn't matter how YouTube keeps making constant changes to the site, each change being a downgrade or just down right glitchy, or how these changes actually hurt or even goes against the functionallity of the site, or how such changes hurts the users who YouTube is making money off of, or how YouTube keeps removing useful features on their site without even providing a replacement for them, or how it the people who keep changing the layout of the site don't even know basic web design, YouTube can keep on trolling the users all they want and their demise will never be anywhere close to appearing.

Funny how I've been using DailyMotion more than YouTube lately. If there's one competitor out there that could be better to give YT a run for it's money, my bet is on DailyMotion.
