Everyone is forgetting to give reasons. And this could quickly develop into a hate thread.

Anyway, for me, having specifically watched the highest rated shows on multiple websites, I have not yet come across a show I've 'hated'. There are a couple I disliked very much though (and yes, I'll be the first person to bring up Sword Art Online).
SAO was the most disappointing out of all of them, considering it's usual ratings are not far behind most of the other top anime that were fantastic. It was just poorly executed for a great concept, forgettable characters and big disparity between the first and second half.

DBZ is another. Unlike other shonen that actually provide an in depth plot with their length and great emotion, DBZ was just very void of that. It was one of the few series I had to force my way through to finish just to give it a proper review.

Durarara...rarara?: I just found it boring for what it was. Characters that I got hyped for were given so little screentime, and it felt Slice-of-life-lite with the supernatural elements not really adding much to it.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: This has more to do with the way it ended. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit until the unsatisfactory end when too much was left unanswered and very little points resolved. It's one of the lesser offenders on the list.

Berserk:This is similar to my points for Evangelion. Also, the amount of points to keep interest were very few too. Still enjoyed the setting for the most part, so also one of the lesser offenders of the list.

FLCL: This one was just a mess, even after rewatching it. Granted, you understand more on the second viewing, but the presentation is too jumbled, and the interactions become hard to keep straight. And this is coming from someone who understood Baccano! on the first go.

Mirai Nikki: Similar to points for FLCL, but an even worse presentation and worse character interactions.

Fairy Tail: This was due to the hype surrounding it. It really failed to deliver like the big 3, and suffered more from directionlessness. Also couldn't help but notice the amount of elements it took from One Piece, without adding much originality of its own. Still one of the lesser offenders on the list though.

And finally, the Holy Sorrow Trinity: Clannad, Angel Beats! and Anohana. This has more to do with the genre than the actual shows. Usually when shows receive high ratings regardless of genre, I give them a go and am not disappointed. That was not the case with these. Angel Beats! suffered less from this, but the other 2 were just so mundane and dealt with unexciting character interactions. There were no big secrets or plot twists to keep me hooked, and the sorrowful elements were not balanced with other emotions.

With FLCL, I think understanding it on the first go and understanding Baccano are two different things. So, really, saying you understood Baccano! means nothing when comparing it to FLCL - they're dissimilar. I'd say Paranoia Agent, Serial Experiments Lain, or Excel Saga would fit more.

As for me, I don't hate any of the shows that I've watched, but I will admit the fanbase of Code Geass has kept me away from it.

can't stand Clannad and Clanned after story so freaking boring. Angel Beats had so many plot holes that you drive a truck through. SAO was ok at first the nose dived.

I hate One piece and Naruto just bad anime

Fushigi Yugi, awful voice acting, in the voice acting in the dub is awful especially with the heroine who acts like a spoiled brat. I couldn't even finish watching it as it pissed me off so much.

Well Haibane renmei is probably my 3/4th favourite anime but I can still see where you're coming from. I thought it had a beautiful engrossing atmosphere and just took different approaches. It's a slice of life anime so it's about setting, mood and feeling... especially connecting with characters and imo it did have some dramatic moments. It was actually adapted from a manga so i'm not sure if you'd have enjoyed that.

anyway I don't rate that harshly the anime i've actually finished, I drop anime the second i realize I hate it. But I finished Black Cat and thought it was disjointed, it was just a drag...

I actually do like Slice of Life animes. Everything doesn't have to be explosions and kung fu, some of my favorite animes are animes like Usagi Drop, Clannad, Suzuka, Kiki's Delivery Service and the like. It's just for this, there was no additive to that life. No humor, even slight, no tension or suspense. And what really frustrated me, is that the premise had potential. I just felt nothing from it, or the characters. I never would have finished it if not for the circumstances.

You know, I liked Angel Beats!, but the thing is, I didn't really find it to be all that sad (at least, as much as many other people do).

You can hate or dislike any popular anime series you want to just stay away from the hardcore fan-boys and fan-girls out there.

For me, it would be:

End of Evangelion: A lot of people complain about it not answering any questions, but I would've been satisfied if it answered just one: "Why?", or alternatively: "What's the point?". I understand that it's about not running away from your problems, but it's pointless to do so if you just allow them to fester anyway.

Clannad: I don't really hate Clannad, it's just that there were some arcs that I thought were incredibly stupid and they made me very angry. I don't think it deserves the praise it gets.

Elfen Lied: Similar to EoE, I don't agree with its message. And maybe it's just my personal beliefs, but I don't care how abused or ostracized you are, you have no right to murder random people.

Free! So much forced drama and predictable scenes since episode one. In fact, I knew that Rin and the rest of the gang were going to make up and swim together since THE FIRST FUCKING EPISODE. So really, I wasted a bunch of Wednesdays for nothing. Just NOTHING!
