Kill la Kill.
It's just 'i'm so randum xp' humor mixed with over the top fan service.
I find the humor too 'extreme', almost as if it's a try hard, and I don't care for tits and ass so it looses on that front.
It's just dumb to me, though I mostly hate it cause the fans are annoying.

Attack on Titan

It wasn't that it was bad, just average at best. Had a bad main character, slow story that crawls at a DBZ pace, and just did not live up to the hype. What really irks me is that other great shows will get overshadowed by it because of how much publicity it had. It doesn't even come close to shows like Monogatari second season.

I could only make it through one episode of this. Everybody was telling me how funny it is, but it just seemed like one random, unfunny joke after another. Like it was trying hard to be an anime version of Seinfeld, but didn't quite make it. But it's seems like it's almost blasphemy to bash this anime sometimes.

i started watching Lucky Star today because of your post to see whats so bad about it and i have to say its actualy pretty good.
And yes i have to agree that first episode is fuckin murder, i was like tha fuck is dis shit but once you get through that 1st ep and get used to the pace of it all its actually a fun show . and that opening song just keeps getting stuck in my head

You're like the third person who has said that the first episode is garbage, but after that it is good. I think I'll try it again, starting at the 2nd episode.

Call me crazy but I can't stand Mirai Nikki.

It was considered anime of the year by some fans(2011 - 2012), and that boggles my mind to no end. I understand why people like it, and there are parts of it I like. But I still find it extremely overrated.

its very otaku centric with a lot of typical otaku references, its a bit like Genshiken (the 1st series not Nidaime) in that aspect but waaaay more laid back. the pace will definetly throw you a bit off in the beginning.

I've actually referred to Eva as the Cockroach of Anime: it just won't die, and it keeps coming back. Okay, the original series was good enough, and I can say I enjoyed it. However, after the first movie (horrible) and the recap movie (reused footage with narrative monologue)... and seeing the series continually peek back into the limelight time and time again, I've been kinda wishing the series would be allowed to rest.

However, anything by Rumiko Takahashi I tend to not like on principle, as past experiences with her stuff have been bad. There are two things I wish authors would do: (a) recognize when a series should end, and (b) give it an actual ending when it does. And by authors, I'm thinking of exactly one in particular.

Naruto dragged on, so now I couldn't care less about the series. Bleach has gone down the same road, or so I hear. I dropped out a little early on that one, but from what I hear, I'm not rushing to spend days upon days on it again since it's likely I'll come to the same conclusion on my own.

... Come to think of it, there's a common thread in all of these.

The last thing I can think of right now is FLCL. I heard it was highly regarded, but I experienced a distinct lack of anything resembling enjoyment when I watched it. I seriously can't imagine what was so good about that show.

While I wouldn't say I hate Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, I do find it rather soulless. It's 50+ episodes of pure drudgery, devoid of the harshness I appreciated in the original anime, and chocked full of WAAAAYYYYY TOO MANY CHARACTERS.

If there ever was a reason why deviating from the manga can make for a better show, the original FMA is a shining example.

Haibane Renmei, from the top post...everyone says it's "the best slice-of-life ever!" or something, but it's just so...dull. The whole cast has bland, mild personalities, almost nothing happens, and what little does happen feels unimportant. They tried to cram in something dramatic at the end, but it felt forced and didn't accomplish anything. Nothing is ever explained, though it's pretty obvious from the beginning that they're all in purgatory. I can't even hate it, because there's nothing to hate. What was the point?

The show is very quiet, subtle. Dull, boring. Like life, really. It speaks to some people on a different level being like that. It focuses on the interactions between the characters rather than anything else, it isn't a show for people who want "action" so to speak. That's what makes it a gem, I think. Anime isn't all about action and I think Haibane shows that perfectly.

Another "dull" show is Gasaraki, very dry and slow going - like dry brining a turkey. It also deals with politics and while it may have been riding on the Neon Genesis Bandwagon, it brought its own goodness to the table. It also has very realistic mechas, everything from movement to deployment procedures to maintenance.

My all time favorite is Texhnolyze though, which is slow and somewhat dull, very quiet, yet so much more enjoyably dismal and hopeless than most shows. I'd even go so far as to say it's the darkest anime produced in the last ten years. Takes all of your dreams and buries them under tons of misery as you slowly die alone and in the dark. Yet, even then, at the end of everything, there is still a faint shimmer of hope shining in the darkness, even if but for a moment.

Anyway, there are tons of hidden gems that get overshadowed, you just have to dig them up.

I'd probably say Dragonball Z. I never was into the show as a kid, and I don't care for the animation or the plot to this day.

I can't name any particular shows I hate, but I do dislike the Harem and Slice-of-Life genres. There are exceptions (Bakemonogatari, Welcome to the NHK, Ah! My Goddess, Oreimo, etc.) but they are like watching the same shows. I'll explain.

Harems are bursting with clichés and tropes that I can't differentiate them besides looking at the surface. I want to be able to see good things in a show whether I'm looking at its overall theme and story, and in depth. Harems have little-to-no depth for me. On the surface each have a different and maybe even interesting sounding story. But when I watch them they have the same characters, and jokes.

The differences in characters between different shows in the harem genre is so trivial that I don't even bother differentiating them anymore. Now I go "that's the tsundere, that's the shy girl, that's the loli, that's the quiet girl, that's the air-head, that's the idiotic oblivious main romantic interest". Its the same character (slightly changed) put into (slightly changed) scenarios.
Heck, even noticed that most of the girls in harems are flat chested. I don't have a problem with that, but when something as stupid as that becomes a trade-mark of a typical harem, it could be empowering but with the way it is presented, it just becomes another stupid fetish.

And when a harem starts,99% of the time you know immediately who the main character will end up with. This many girls, yet I already know who will end up with who. There's no wondering who he will end up with.

And they always have this choppily placed fan-service that usually is the source of the humor for a harem. It's the same misunderstandings slightly altered that either make the guy look like an idiot, or the girl look like she's over-reacting. So many panty shots and boob jiggles yet not a single kiss until the last episode. And when it is kissing, it's the sloppy kind that just gives me a very uncomfortable shame boner.

And what really irks me is that people exult in harems. I get the appeal and it's the wish-fulfillment and fan-service but some just act as though they actually care about the character development and story. Character development rarely transcends very far since they still have to remain their designated character type, and story is hardly ever done well and is usually there just to make the main male look like a badass. They act like they aren't watching for the fanservice or they just haven't seen a better show.

I'm not going to lie, I watch harems, and I used to tell myself that I watched them because I was invested in the show, but now I don't even say that. Harems are an easy way to make money because we just can't help ourselves, and they aren't leaving anytime soon.

This is my opinion, and I admit I may have come off as obnoxious sounding and over exaggerated in some aspects. I haven't seen every harem ever, but I have seen enough to know there are some good ones that deviate from the main path. If you do like harems and find my information folly, good for you. I mean that when I type it because I wish I could just watch a show for what it is. Don't let some punk on the internet get you down just cause he disagrees or even trashes something you like. If you have a suitable argument for me then I would happily read it since I want to enjoy stuff, so long as you are civil (even if I haven't been in this post, again I'm sorry.)
