I haven't played a lot (yet!) but I really like the "shall we date" games available for mobile devices. Which seems kind of lame, but some of them have really great story lines. I've only ever finished a few, though, so take my word with a grain of salt lmao.

I recently played Mystic Messenger (not a shall we date game, but one available for mobile devices) and that... Was an interesting approach to a dating sim. Very, very time consuming. I had to delete the app and take a break from it, because it was all I would ever think about lmao. I've played some of Yoosung's, Zen's, and Jumin's routes, but there's so many endings and more characters to get through I just CAN'T DO IT MAN... But, I would say that's my favorite. I might pick it back up again and plan a few weeks accordingly, where I'm not busy. Because that game requires you to play it in real time for like... 12, 13 days, I think? I don't remember.

I'd have to say mine is between Shuffle, School Days, and Love at First Sight.
That last one is a kinetic novel about dating a Cyclops girl for those who don't know.

Hmm... Katawa Shoujo, Shuffle!, and School Days comes to mind. The novelty of School Days is pretty epic really. And well. It's definitely got some shock value.

Does God Catching Alchemy Meister count? It's a Tactical RPG and VN combined (on the more eroge side of things as well). It is amazingly badass.

I'm a huge fan of the Taimanin Asagi series, kind of funny but that's what got me into reading VNs.
Saya No Uta is the bomb and I need something else like it, I have yet to read a VN that deals with the issues that game shows.

Hoshizora no Memoria. (Even though it took me more than 4 years to actually get around to completing all the routes)

Tsukihime definitely! Other than the obvious choice for me, I'd probably say my second favorite is the old DOS title True Love.

Initial release date: April 28, 2004
Artist: Jun Maeda
Adaptations: Clannad (2007)
After the death of his mother, Tomoya Okazaki—a guarded delinquent student at Hikarizaka High School—struggles to not only make sense of the abusive relationship he has with his alcoholic father, but also find meaning in his life. While on his way to class one morning, he meets a mystifying girl named Nagisa. She is a delinquent like him, but only because she is repeating her senior year, unlike the perpetually tardy Okazaki. From their brief encounter, Nagisa decides they should be friends, and enlists Tomoya's help to revive the school drama club. Not being busy in any way, he decides to join in. Along the way, the two make friends with many other students and try to find both solace and belonging in their endeavors.

10/10 my favorite visual novel!!

Fruit of Grisaia will always hold a special place in my heart now as my favorite VN.

It is on steam. There is both a lewd and non-lewd version. Both are great.

The characters, the drama, the behavior, and everything actually really ramp up as well. It has one of the longest common routes I've ever had to deal with in a VN but its worth it.

Its one of the few VNs that made me cry during multiple routes.

Video is the opening. Really great.
