5. Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Unlike the other four on the list, I never intended to watch this anime at all. The animation style and magical girl theme made me immediately think it was for little girls. I wrote it off immediately. It wasn't until a friend told me that the anime wasn't what I thought it was and I needed to watch, that I decided to give it a go. I was floored. And when the episode showing Homura's back story aired, this became my 5th favorite anime of all time.

Wow ho good one, you are a joker.

And never.

I don't. But, I think what you're trying to say is that Madoka isn't one of the greatest 5 animes of all time. I'm not saying that it is. I'm saying it's my personal 5th favorite of all time. I mean, if you're saying 5th greatest, you'd have to go with titles like One Piece, DBZ, Akira, Death Note and the like.

Not even close, I guess you didn't see the bold? Did you see my avi and name? It IS my favorite.

What I am saying is that it is laughable that you thought it was a "little girls show" which is absolutely preposterous.

Log Horizon. Because I read that it was going to be for very young children. And I was right, and I don't really like it that much. But I can appreciate it because there's nothing else to watch at the time.

I thought that I might like that Magic whatever anime with the salamander something guy who gets car sick. I didn't. I hated it.

Hitman Reborn and Ben-to, Reborn was very hard to watch at first while Ben-to just sounded stupid but it was pure enjoyment.

Ahhh, I see now. Guess I should've paid more attention. But, yeah, looking back, I also found it funny that I thought it was a little girl's show. That anime reminded me of an important lesson I had forgotten from Magical Witch Punie-Chan: NEVER judge an anime by it's animation. To think, I would've completely missed out on a classic.

i was wrong about inuyasha... basicly i saw an aMV (ANIME MUSIC VIDEO) and it had an inuyasha clip and so i got the impression it was about a majestic demon and i thought he was full of himself, i also thought it was etremely loveydoevy. about a month after i saw the amv i got bored so i then thought okay ill give it a try, since i need a new anime to watch. i watched the first episode and thought i was DEAD WRONG!!!! its not all loveydovey and no way is inuyasha ever going to be majestic!! i watched a few more episodes and liked it and decided i was going to finish it since i really enjoyed it! i have now finnished inuyasha and inuyasha: the final act and am now watching the movies. really funny and awesome. totally enjoyed it and laughed all the way.really glad i watched it since its now in mmy top 3 faveorites!!

People had me convinced that Oreimo was some perverted show about incest, but I watched it anyway. I was wayyyy off. Aside from episode 4. What a way to dodge a crotch-kick.

PapaKiki -- I thought it was a loli incest show. It was nothing like that. It turned into a great story about family.
Kiddy Grade -- A horrible name for a good show. The first 3 episodes gave you the idea that it was mindless fanservice. And then it got good.

Two main ones I would say are:

1) Full Metal Panic - was shown the first episode in a college Sci-Fi society Anime evening and thought "Meh". Then about a year later my sister starts going on about this great series she got and loans me the DVDs.

Cue falling in love Such a great series.

2) Code Geass - heard this was good so watched the first episode and again "Meh". Months later, Im randomly linked episode 6 of Code Ment, a parody abridged series. After picking myself off the floor from laughing so hard, I watch the rest of the abridged episodes and find out where the plot actually goes and it piques my interest.
