Life is whatever you make it out to be.
Expect anything and you'll be disappointed.

I take a more scientific view. I've been atheist most of my life (I didn't just jump on the bandwagon). I'm of the opinion that we're simply organisms like anything else living out our lives and reproducing to keep our species going. That aspect is genetic and most people are happy to do so. The basics of life are food, water, shelter and reproduction - we simply have developed enough over time to want, desire and sometimes even need various comforts and conveniences. Being at the top of the food chain is what has allowed this. If we were not at the top of the food chain then our lives would be vastly different than what they are now.

Do you think life is fair, cruel or both?

I think life is life. Tornadoes don't have specific targets - they just happen. There's no higher deity that is out there to ruin your life or to make it better. With intelligence comes insecurity, and so humanity created any number of deities in order to find some purpose in their lives or to reassure themselves that there would be something for them in the afterlife besides becoming worm food. Our fortunes are our own. It's neither fair or unfair. With that being said, humanity is certainly unfair at times. It's important to understand that it's not the Earth, the weather, or anything else that's unfair in this world - if you went to an island by yourself you would find that everything was quite fair. Even if you got eaten by a tiger, well, that's simply survival of the fittest. Humanity, however, is deeply flawed and full of various believes and opinions. These are the things that make people think that "life" is unfair. Life is just life.

What do you expect out of life and why?

I expect to get back what I put in with maybe some luck along the way. Nothing more. Life doesn't owe me anything.

When life brings you down, what do you do to get back up and keep moving forward?

I remember that the emotional state of being depressed is a temporary feeling. They say "Time heals all wounds" but it's more accurate to say, "Memories fade with time". I just put it out of my mind and move on. I have specific goals that I want to accomplish in my life and so I focus on them.

If you spend a whole lifetime quantifying regrets that's all you'll ever see.("I should have been a pair of ragged claws scuttling across the floors of silent seas")Reminiscent of "The (Rime) of the ancient Mariner". We're all lost in Maya, but don't despair I think so I am bland.

I won't say life is cruel, but it certainly isn't fair either. Just in my own experience, I have to deal with the injustice of being given the boot from the USAF after 3.5 years for having a poorly researched personality disorder that had, thus far, not impacted my job performance in the slightest; or, as with a lot of people, working my ass off at my civilian job while other people stand around talking and playing on their cell phones and getting paid the same hourly wage.

It's not fair to expect anything out of life. Nothing will be given to you, and even the things you fight tooth and nail for may end up meaningless or not come to fruition. Proverbial "happy endings" are possible in real life, but even with your full effort, there is no guarantee.

I'm... not a particularly resilient person, so I don't know how to respond to the last question.

At times the world may seem like a cruel and unfair place, but if your willing to look hard enough you'll find it's really quite beautiful

People are too focused on the negative things in their life to even acknowledge the existence of the positive things that keep them going in life. The kind of things where people say the world is complete trash or life is entirely cruel are cringe worthy to me. The people who say these things need to be more mature and responsible for their own life.

Anyway, in regards to OP:
What are your views on life?
I guess I can be lazy and use my paragraph thing above as an answer to this question. c:

Do you think life is fair, cruel or both?
I think life is neither fair nor cruel.
I think we're lucky to have been born to experience life itself, the issue of fair and cruel comes with the who we surround ourselves with combined with how we act around people. If you go moping around preaching about how the world is a terrible place and how all people are cruel and unfair then you're asking for a cruel and unfair life and deserve what's coming to you.

What do you expect out of life and why?
I d'unno.

When life brings you down, what do you do to get back up and keep moving forward?
Eat food, watch anime, and play video games.

1. Think positively, also this is probably more towards societies, I don't think fish care. I think life just keeps going, never stopping, continuously adapting as the environment changes.

2. Both, I think life encompasses everything, good or bad (as defined by our society).

3. Happiness is the quick answer.

4. Focus, like a horse has blinders, nothing stops you when you filter out the world and focus on your goal.

Views on life.. I don't know :p it's just life everyone is living it and we all have our good and bad moments.

Probably more cruel than fair..

I expect more troubles to come my way, but like all the battles i've faced I think I can get myself into another mess and live through it.

My sister has been in bad situations and if she can live through them, so can I.
