Neither, if you want something that invokes the "feelz" watch the last half of Nanoha Strikers.

Now excuse me while I go throw several hundred rocks in order to feel like a man again.

Like everybody else, im going with Clannad. Clannad was easily for times as long as Anohana, so I was able to grow more attached to the characters. Especially Nagisa. she was so lovely, kind and naïve. Been quite some time since I seen it,but I watched AS 3 times, and I can still here Tomoya cry her name.Yes, Anohana was sad, but it was only 11 episodes.

Both of them are great in their own ways. I don't want to compare which one is better though.

Makes me think of 3rd episode of SAO. the girl (whatever her name was) died the very same episode she was introduced, yet people were commenting about how it was one of the saddest episodes in anime history... I personally didn't shed a tear. how can you cry over a character you hardly know?... I suppose it doesn't help that I watched Ano Natsu de Matteru, followed by Anohana, and then going straight to SAO. its not that fair...

Anohana no contest
Even with four times less episodes, it had way more impact

Anohana by far. I liked Clannad and Afterstory, but they honestly felt weak compared to the other Key works I've seen.

Clannad AS deals with a lot more mature matters, while AnoHana is far more immature and the whole story can only be (fully) relatable if people are mentally-challenged. Seriously the melodrama in AnoHana (especially the ending) was insanely out of control to the point it was painfully annoying and embarassing to watch. A group of kids who have been affected mentally (not emotinally) by some kid who was their pal for short amount of time as 5 year olds or so, you have one guy who is nutty about her and calls the time they had as little kids 'true love' and another guy who dresses in her clothing (do I need to speak more on the mentality of these characters?)

Clannad AS is superior.
AnoHana is decent but the melodrama compared to Clannad AS is mostly unnecessary and just out of control ESPECIALLY the ending.

Really? I feel pretty much the opposite. Clannad and Clannad After Story's tearjerking moments, while effective for me as I was watching, just came off as cheap and emotionally manipulative the longer I had to think about it afterward. AnoHana can definitely be a little emotionally manipulative sometimes, but it got to me more, and to be frank I feel like it deals with grief in a much more mature manner than Clannad ever did.

We all know who would win considering that Fuko Ibuki is a five-time five-time five-time five-time FIVE-TIME world heavyweight champion.

You make AnoHana sound mature when it wasn't even in the slightest, the whole cast was Immature. You also forget that Clannad/AS has the Fantasy factor which is implemented from the beginning to the end, they are not just some random magical asspull. Grief in a much more mature manner? Big joke, this is not an opinion, it is clear as daylight. The melodrama in AnoHana and the ending was excrutiating to watch, there was no mature manner about it. AnoHana is more relatable to immature kids who can't get over some supposedly 'true love/friendship' they had as 5 years old 10 years later+.
The concept of AnoHana with the whole "come to terms with their friend's death and move on" was good but the actual execution and the story they chose + the characters was poor seriously. I am not saying Clannad is perfect and AnoHana is garbage but 1 is clearly more mature as a whole and that is Clannad, and that is what Clannad AS is well known for. AnoHana is good but not great, but hey, to each their own.

^ Don't say "this is not an opinion" when stating an opinion.

I liked both shows. This thread is the devil.

I could have sworn we already had a thread like this. Maybe i'm just thinking of the Menma vs Nagisa thread. They're all starting to just blend together to be honest.

Well, i've said it roughly 3-5 times already, and i'll say it again. I prefer AnoHana by far. Though Clannad AS was still very good and I enjoyed it. I simply did not really "feel" for the main characters of Clannad, and the characters that I did feel for were glossed over. Conversely, AnoHana resonated with me far more than Clannad - but again, that's just me personally and different people will have different responses to both.
