When I stopped aging, I stopped celebrating.

My birthdays were the same from as early as I can remember to the time I hit 21... but my 21 and 22 birthday are a haze of fog and liquor. I'm sure in a couple years the drinking until I forget birthdays will mellow out and from then until I die will probably be the same boring thing.

Well my birthday is on January 1st, so it isn't a normal day to begin with. It's after all of the partying is done, and I have had many New Year's Eve parties, but mostly I just relax on New Years day with my family. We watch the Rose Parade and enjoy eating food and towards the end of the night I get a cake or other desert of my choosing, we sing happy birthday and I open a couple gifts. We often do a family dinner night on a night all of the family can go at a restaurant of the birthday persons' choosing.

I don't bother with birthdays really.
I rarely get presents, I don't get money, I don't throw parties or have them thrown for me.
It is just another day for me.
However, my 18th is coming up and that means I can finally get my tattoo done.

Used to have some pretty awesome ones, but none since middle school have really been that special.

My birthdays have always generally sucked. I think because I have spent most of them alone.

Happy birthday!

My mother's family loves getting together for everyone's birthday. Everyone. Kids, adults, grandparents. September is an absolutely crazy month for us, because almost half of the birthdays are in that month (and we're talking half of a family of 20-some people). And we have to have individual celebrations for each one, especially for the kids (my cousins, brother and me). Most of the time, the adults just go out to dinner or something for their b-days, but for anyone under 18, it is a huge production. I don't mind as much as I used to, but it still gets a bit annoying every now and then. And though I am technically an "adult" now, I am sure this charade will continue at least until I am 20.

I prefer having a small outing of some sort for my b-day. For a while, I didn't do anything at all outside of my family, but I've tried to be more sociable and fun as of late. Last year a couple friends and I spent the day mucking around Annapolis (lunch, window shopping, went on that ghost tour thing they have every late September/October), and this year we spent the day mucking around Baltimore (coincidentally, there was a book festival going on, so we spent most of our time there). No big thing. I just use my b-day as motivation to get out of the house, really.
