Good actions don't make a good person. People can seem nice and caring on the outside when they are actually just helping you out so that you owe them in the future. Not everyone is like this, but unfortunately, some are.

Actions done by these people are still good and helpful at the time, but they may lead to bad consequences later on (like if said person thinks you owe them and holds it over your head).

Now, doing a good deed because of the self-gratifying feeling that comes from helping others? That is not bad at all. In fact, it's a very good thing. It means you enjoy helping people and are therefore more inclined to go out of your way for others.

As Sogno- said, doing something for money is a job. Nothing more, nothing less.

Good and Bad are just labels created by society. Something is only good or bad when society agrees to make it so. Just because the majority agrees on something doesn't mean it is actually true. You should worry more about what you want and less about Good and Bad.

Well anyways, your statement does remind me of the Id, ego, and superego theory, where the Id is your instinctual wants and desires, your superego is what you think is what is right and wrong, and the ego sorts between the two and makes the decisions. The superego could stop you from doing certain things your Id wants you to do.

I do agree that what is good and bad is something based on what society thinks, and maybe people should worry less about what's good or bad, but i think there should be a limit to that.

The limit is harm. Do no harm to others or yourself. Simple concept. Once you have that down just follow your heart.

... but seriously, it is difficult to deny that there are objectively good things, even if the intention behind them is inherently selfish. People are, after all, wont to act only in self-interest.

Every action has a benefit. Judgement = gain/loss

I wasn't talking about people.
If something benefits, something else doesn't.
