I have to agree with Well Spoken Man, it's. ... something about it isn't working right on an emotive level for me. not something I can analyze, on a strict esthetic sense it should be great but....

I believe Claire is Nina. we might even find out next ep as she saves Kal-el from the storm they saw at the end of this ep.

I think white haired kid is someone who suffered who whose family suffered under the Kal-el's parent's regime. Perhaps even a relative of nina's?

Well the day that Kal-el finds out that Claire is actually Nina.. haha can't wait for that day.

Since Kal-el is in love with Claire and Claire/Nina is in love with Kal-el

Its gonna tear a new hole in his heart

I think we are going to have to agree to disagree as to what constitutes fair, and I'm sorry I do not accept your self appointment as the arbiter of my ethics. I still live in a free country. I am free to complain to my heart's content about any show I chose to dislike, I'm free even to complain about shows I haven't watched. The freedom you have is to dismiss as trivial, refute with logic and fact, or simply ignore as not worth your time, my comments.

You DO NOT get to tell me what to. (at least not and expect me to obey). This applies to ANY authority self appointed or not. The most anyone can do to someone else is apply consequences for disobedience. No one can make you do anything you're willing to pay the price for not doing.

Kami might have been talking about me, since I have been vocal about the people who drop a show after a couple of episodes and then comeback into the forums near the end to bash the show they haven't watched. Essentially just trolling the people who are enjoying the show.

I am not dropping the show yet, and if I do I am not going to announce it to everybody, which is something else I have commented on. I'm sticking around because I am hoping that these flat characters can set aside the drama and give us some more of the sweet dogfighting scenes from the first episode. That's really all I am looking for here. As I said, it also doesn't hurt that Mondays and Tuesdays are a bit sparse.

In the simplest of terms, if you finish the whole anime you have a much broader view. You might discover other redeeming factors towards said anime.

The comment before is a running-gag (some of you might remember).

Spoiler used for brevity:

I think you are confused about my attempt of levity, why do you think I was serious with at the end?
"No one can make you do anything you're willing to pay the price for not doing." isn't that from Thoreau's Civil Disobedience

sorry. Sometimes text translates humour poorly AND people telling me what to do is a personal hot button. (one that get's my into no end of trouble at work and during my stint in the CF)

RE Thoreau, It wasn't a deliberate quote, but weather or not he said it? Probably, the concept at least. I once did a paper on disobedience for a poli-sci course years ago. mostly it's my own firmly held opinion I'm rather big on personal sovereignty

In all honestly I'm not dropping the show yet either. no plans to. I don't have fixed numbers of episodes by which a series has to prove itself either a show has me eagerly awaiting the next ep every week. or I discover that I just can't be arsed to watch it. In the latter case sometimes I go back to it during a fit of boredom and watch it all. out of last season Appregio was eagerly awaited, Strike the blood and I couldn't become a hero were returns and several others including galileo donna just never got completed. Usually in the final case I also can't be bothered to post. If I'm posting. I'm actively watching.

Nice backstory to what happened to Kal and his parents. That look Kal gave Niena when they forced Kal to bow to her reminded me of the look Naruto gave Haku during the crystal mirrors fight when he had a physical manifestation the first time of his Nine-Tails power.

I've read a summary from the Japanese wiki about the plot. Enough to generally know who the characters are but not enough to know how things progress or end up. At the moment the only thing I can say is, if Nina dies because Karl kills her, either accidentally or intentionally, then I will be happy with that, that would be a rather poetic and interesting turn of events. If she dies any other way though, I might be a little angry.

On another note, I do not like when Yuuki Aoi does reserved characters. She has a naturally high pitched voice and when she does reserved characters she just pitches it higher... I like when she does feisty or happy characters like Juubei or that chick from Gosick. She is really good at those characters. I always expect to hear either Hanazawa Kana or Kayano Ai's voice come out of Claire's mouth. Aoi would have made a good Ariel though, not saying that there is any problem with Taketatsu or anything though. People always seem to hate when I criticize voice actors, but really there are just some roles I think some voice actors just do not handle well.
