Is the movie a prequel or sequel to the actual series?

That's what I led to assume that the movie is the prequel before the TV adaptation.

Finished movie. It serves as a prequel of sorts introducing all the main characters, manager, president, etc. I find the lack of development to be a thorn though and the movie itself was less than an hour. The song was kinda meh and they should wear something more fancy next time. However, given the storyline concept, they didn't have funds so it can't be helped.

I'm not too sure how to think of this movie honestly. I rated it a 7/10 but some of it felt lacking. I might re-watch again later.

Best line of the movie:

Movie

Its no Idolm@ster and is different in scope from Love Live which was school based.

I hated the president the moment she talked, thank god she was actually supposed to be a horrible character, good riddance lol

I'm all for fanservice and all that but I actually didn't really like it in this show, felt kind of forced just to be there?

And the manager (AKA producer-san) is more of a protagonist personality rather than a support like role in Idolm@ster, we'll see where this goes.

Overall, 8 out of 10 for the movie

The end (debut) song is pretty good.

I like it ,I hope the story gets a little smoother in the coming episodes, but the fanservice in the first concert wasn't necessary. As for the beach episode coming up next fits the story in this case lol I would give it 9 out of 10

So we have the movie and the first episode out at the same time. Do you need to watch the movie first or can you just go straight in to the series?

I haven't watched the first episode yet mind you... but I think the Movie leads into the series, kind of like a... prequel setting sorta thing. Thats what I remember reading about it.

Also I think the movie came out roughly an hour ahead of the series, to let it work that way.

you have to watch the movie first then the tv series because the tv series leaves off where the movie ended

Ep 1

I'm beginning to wonder if Matsuda ever does his research or at least does background checks on those who wants to help out or is actually that incompetent.

Seriously, I think he just believed every word that Sudo guy spout out without thinking twice. Dude looks like those bad guys in H-doujins.

I'm going to assume that my intuition is right and that Sudo guy is bad news and Matsuda proceeds to kick him out next episode. Otherwise I'll begin to doubt this show if Matsuda agrees to what Sudo is suggesting the girls do.

I found the movie very bland. I still enjoyed it, but nothing really special. As for the song I really liked it and glad it is used as the opening. With the first episode it was alright, but wouldn't make that much sense if you didn't watch the movie. I will keep watching since I like Idol anime and does this anime even have a budget?

Not bad so far.

That being said, CR must keep the film for as long as they keep this series, because episode 1 makes no sense without seeing the film.

Also kinda disappointed that the OP is 100% reused clips from the movie.

Sad that Crunchyroll does not sub the Insert songs though, would honestly love them if they do decide to sub them, Since I have to resort to fansubs If I want dem lyrics added onto the insert songs.

Man, I don't know rather I should watch the movie or the first episode. Both sound so good, but I can't decide which one to watch. What do you guys think I should watch: the movie or the series?

I made the mistake of watching the first episode without having watched the movie, and I was pretty much lost till I did. Definitely watch the movie first.
