The Nationals might need another season based on the current pacing.

It's still ongoing in the manga, so they couldn't finish it here in any case. The last episode brought them up to chapter 73; Saki doesn't get to sit down for this game until chapter 90, and they spend 10 chapters on the captain's game. Currently the manga is only halfway through the second day of the tournament, which starts with chapter 106 (the last chapter out this month is 121). So it's probable we'll get 13 episodes devoted to just the first game on the first day.

Aah yes, the Saki manga's legendarily slow pace ><

To be honest, after all this time, I'm not sure why Saki's sister is "mad at her" or why she needs more than 5 years to "talk to her through Mahjong."

I also forgot the Hisa is both the Mahjong and student council president.

Nobody does. But in their time, it's only been a couple weeks.

Wow, they zoomed right through the second match.

I'd normally imagine that they'd skip through Hisa's match in two episodes, but Hiroe (Himematsu's ace who was eager to get out there) is in the match, so who knows.

Kirame (the girl that said "Subara" or "Wonderful" a lot in Achiga-hen) had her position switched out because her team didn't want their ace to play against Hiroe. So this next episode could get interesting..

This was a really quick round in the manga too, it only lasted one chapter.

I also really want to see Awai Oohoshi play again, I might rewatch her episodes from Achiga Hen.

Ignoring the hair color, Awai's play style reminds me a lot of Koromo

Both of them manipulate their opponents' abilities to form a hand, and both rely on drawing very specific tiles from the wall.
Personally, I liked the matches with Koromo a lot more than the little we got to see of Awai. But, I don't know it's because their play styles are too similar.

Koromo's "Bottom of the sea" is certainly a lot more intimidating than Amai's kans.

In a way, it seems like the "power scale" went down a notch after Saki's team went to the nationals.

I don't really remember her play style, to be honest. I could be off here since I don't remember her game from Achiga Hen, but I just like how she makes me think of a prowling lioness. Koromo on the other hand is more of a vampire.

When Awai plays, all other players start with bad hands. Her signature move is to kan the last tile of a wall.

Koromo can read the strength of her opponent's hands, preventing them from getting anything helpful, and wins with last tile of a wall (the bottom of the sea.) Since she's also a Moon Rabbit, Koromo gets more powerful during a full moon.

^ So they're basically the same player since both of them use the same tile and have the same start-up. ^

The only difference is that Awai's hands tend to be rather same-y and her start-up is that everybody's unlucky.

With Koromo, everybody isn't just unlucky:

Koromo wins in Achiga-hen:

So, considering the two play styles, Amai is just a very tame Koromo.

I'm an epsiode behind, but I can't even catch up because it's doing the stupid thing where CR decides it hates a SPECIFIC episode and continually forces it to end early.

Maybe it'll work on my xbox

Hisa is one of my favorite characters, I liked seeing her off her game and then getting over it.

does anyone get the feeling that they are dragging out Saki and Nodoka's part out? because I haven't seen them play so far this season
