I didn't know where to post this so I just posted it here. I hope it's not a problem. I originally loved my free membership with crunchyroll but I thought that maybe it might be nicer without the ads, and with the ability to watch the newest episode of Kuroko's Basketball. So I upgraded. Unfortunately, the upgrade came with a mandatory upgrade to high quality video. Of which my internet simply can't handle. I don't know what to do. I can't watch my videos smoothly without getting interrupted every minute or so, but I love the fact that I've gone ad free. Can anyone help me figure out how to downgrade video quality on my ouya while still staying premium?

I'm not sure if this will work, but in account settings which you can access on the site, there is an option under Video Preferences for "Default Video Quality". Have you tried to lower the resolution there?

I tried that, I set it to the lowest setting but it made no difference to my ouya. There's no settings to downgrade quality on the actual ouya itself that I could find... but I'm not sure if I'm just missing something.

this is why I can't have nice things.

I can't run at high quality, either, so I just hit the SD box under the show when it comes on. (Under the left-hand side of the viewing screen are four boxes: SD, 480P, 720P, and 1080P. Because I also have premium anime membership, all episodes automatically come on in 1080P. I just change my preference to SD.)

SD quality is the same video resolution that the free CR accounts use. So by setting it to SD, you're back to the old video quality of your old free account (that worked before you upgraded to get rid of the Ads), but without the Ads. If that doesn't work, then there might be another network issue.

Hope that helps.

Cheers.

Hi there! I moved this to the Help Section -- specifically the Android forum where the rest of the Ouya help topics seem to be. If you don't get a resolution in the forum, you can contact customer support directly using the Contact Us link (though support staff does routinely visit the help forums).

OK, feel kind of silly for not noticing the ouya part of the problem. Don't feel silly at all, though, for not knowing what an ouya was and hitting Google. Sorry if my earlier post was of no help--it works on computers, though. . .

I tried this and it makes no difference to my Ouya. It seems as though there's no way to change the video settings of the Ouya.... It changed the video quality of my laptop's videos but not of my Ouya... I wonder if it's just not possible to change the video settings of the Ouya... :/

Ah... I see, well your best bet at this point is probably to take lorreen 's advice and contact Crunchyroll Support directly via the Contact Us link: http://www.crunchyroll.com/help?topic=contact . As you've written, there may not be a way to dial down the video setting for that device, but they may have a workaround or some other suggestion.

Sorry about that. Good luck. Hope you get it worked out.

Cheers.
