Seems for me to be an asshole I just have to be me. Most of my friends and family expect me to save all year round to buy them gifts during the holidays, but I don't have the time for that (nor do I get paid enough to do that) so I don't get anyone shite and then from pretty much Christmas through the first week of the New Year I just get gripes and complaints from everyone.

Push ahead of people in checkout lines makes you quite an asshole.

The other day, I had to run in the store real quick with my kids and a man shoved ahead of me in line saying he would be really quick. Yeah, real quick, spending 10 minutes buying gift cards, then laughing and waving, saying thanks as he walked away when he was done . It was all I could do not to say something.

If someone says a greeting related to a holiday you don't celebrate to you, just take it graciously. All you're doing by trying to 'correct' them is being unpleasant to someone who was just trying to be polite. This also applies to people who think that the appropriate response to 'Happy Holidays!' is 'Stop trying to be so PC!'

Purposely short circuiting all the christmas lights or shoving a novelty sized cork in the chimney is probably a pretty dick thing to do. Or there's always the most unspeakable tragedy of all; reading the christmas cracker jokes.

All the fake happiness and pretend "I really give a d_mn" makes someone a Christmas arse in my book. Of course, me not wanting to play along seems to make me an arse in their books. . .

(Glad to see that I'm not the only one who hates Christmas music, though!)

I understand why some people get really grumpy around Christmas. I do. There's massive lines everywhere and advertisements get particularly annoying with their "BUY MY STUFF" bullshit right in your face. Not to mention the nightmare of travelling. But please. Please. Please. When you are at a Christmas get-together, do not be that asshole who sulks in the corner and complains about how much the holidays suck. Yes, we know how greedy you think people are. We know how much you hate materialism and commercialization. We know how much you hate the world in general. But this is really not the time. Just relax, take a load off, and enjoy your time with friends and family. Nothing else matters.
