I did a search in the forums for this question but got nothing useful, so I'll ask here. Does Crunchyroll get a cut of any the sales of any merchandise offered in the store when it's fulfilled by outside providers?

The reason I ask is I want to do right by Crunchyroll and use their store anytime they have anything available, but only if it means that Crunchyroll sees some profit from it.

Actually, I sometime wish Crunchyroll had a tip button somewhere. They deserve it.

Let me state I do not work for CR and these answers are all my own conjectures:

They'd have to get some cut, but it honestly does not appear to be very much as what they tend to offer almost seems at the wholesale prices. Plus the shipping is VERY reasonable since they are not charging for what it costs to ship the figure from Japan. All in all, they have to at least recoup the cost and "break even", but I've read somewhere that they truly intend to offer items on their store at near wholesale prices. And I honestly believe the daily deals are where they are selling an item at an actual loss.

Well bud, I can say they do not appear to offer every single item that gets released, but they recently become my first stop to check out figures. So even if they aren't making a profit, I'll still give them all the business I can to keep what their doing going.

The best tip we can give them is to continue supporting them with their monthly subscriptions. Others have cried foul at their prices and/or most recent strategy, however if you want to see something succeed you have to support it monetarily.

All in all, best answer: Keep buying more stuff!

AFAIK the relatively recent influx of merch for NA is due to Great Eastern and similar US companies greatly ramping up their licensing in recent years, and figures specifically because Goodsmile Company has been making inroads into the overseas market since last year.

In all honesty: You can probably get figures cheaper elsewhere, but the real benefit of buying through CR is they already have the merchandise "locally stored" per se. So you only worry about domestic shipping, and theoretically less chance of damage. For a single figure purchase especially, the price difference between direct import from a vendor like AmiAmi with EMS shipping vs. CR domestically, seems to be about 5%. The only slight downside is looking at the lag time between CR's stated release date and the figures actual release date, they probably get them imported via sea freight. Which explains the 4-6 week difference. Whereas EMS from Japan only takes 5 days.

Ordering multiples at once via direct import can save money, but you run into quirks with AmiAmi's shipping policies at times, where they only batch pre-orders for things that release in the same month. So it can be complicated at times.
