Re-gifting, good, bad, or only bad if you get caught?......

Frankly, I myself don't mind getting a re-gift, as long as it isn't used, is complete, and is in good condition. I however am too chicken to re-gift. I always think I'd get caught and the person who gave me the gift would get pissed that I gave it to somebody else.......so I got some crap I'm now stuck with.

Here's what I do with a gift I can't use, don't want, or just...Blah.

1) Give it to a thrift store/donate.

2) Re-gift it to someone else eventually. (Give it some time, don't make a fuss about it; and make sure it is in brand-new/really good/unused condition! Then I don't see the problem.) I myself have been given a "re-gift" and I don't mind in the slightest. Some might - if it bothers you to get a re-gift, then don't do the same to someone else.

3) If there is a gift receipt, return it.

I don't see the point of throwing out perfectly good things. Just because it may not be something you really like, doesn't mean someone else won't love it.

I would take the gift, but if I knew that it was a re-gift, I'd be kind of annoyed knowing that's how much thought went into my gift "Oh, someone gave me something I don't need, Jordan's birthday is soon....he can have it"

I had my gift re-gifted, and they proudly told me they re-gifted my gift away Of course it broke my heart hahaha but lets not go there.
I guess it's only bad if the gift was important or not, or if you think the person who gave it to you, and the person you're giving the gift to even cares if it was a re-gift.

It depends. If it was a gift from someone you know well, from the heart, then... no, I don't think it should be re-gifted.

If you got it from a Secret Santa or at a White Elephant type-event, then I'd have no problem re-gifting. It was a semi-random / completely random guess.

Personally I'd only do it if I have no use for it or if another person would really have more of a use for it.

that's were i liked to be asked what i would like or get given cash i tend to make that clear to people who give me gifts so then i don't have to hurt there feelings,

in my eyes better to be given something you can use than something that's not beneficial and is in your way and loves to collect dust

It would be one thing if someone gave away the gift I gave them, but If i found out that they sold it to a stranger i'd.......i'd.... tell them that they have to split the money with me and i'm never buying them anything again :p

If I honestly couldn't find a use for the item i'd just give it someone else, it's better than me wasting it. Then again I HATE surprises so i'd rather you take me and let me pick something out or just give me money.

I don't even keep it a secret. If I have no use for what you gave me and it isn't a case where it was something I wanted and I just got it for myself first or something I will just give it to someone else. Doesn't matter if you are right there or not. There are exceptions of course like if it is something I said I wanted but no longer do for whatever reason. Or if it was a gift that took a lot of time and effort. I like those enough to keep it around even if it goes unused. But if it is just a gift that I have no interest in then I am sorry but it would seem as though you don't know me well enough to find something I like and so you shouldn't be too upset if you guessed wrong.

Hopefully I made sense....I am getting too tired to double check things to make sure I am coherent.
