I've put myself off of watching the eva series and the rebuild movies for a while, i wish i'd of watched them sooner.

the original series was such a mind fuckery that i'd longed for and filled it succesfully, along with end of evangelion which clarified certain parts of the plot.

finally after watching 1.11 which felt to me was just a recap with a polish so i was ok with that, but 2.22 my god that has possibly been one of if not the greatest spectacles of anime i've watched in a long time.

Well, that was the idea that they were hoping for. The redo was done as a means to try and re-invigorate the community to getting out of a rut so to speak in terms of style and story. The first one was very much the original story to that point, but they used technology to update and revamp the style as a means of showing what can be done.

2.0 was all about showing how just changing the way a character acts slightly can dramatically "change the expected" and direction of a story. I reality, 2.0 is very similar to the original story. The only difference is in minor choices the characters made. These small choices having a large impact.

So you know, not sure if UK is the same, but here 3.0 is going to be shown in theatres in January. (11th and 16th) so might be worth checking out.

Bit of anime hipster here. The shows are called #.0 The discs are sold as #.0# for the disc release, and it is the #.## for the 2 disc special editions.

Just wait until you see the third movie.

Kind of irritated that "due to the overwhelming theatrical demand for Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, the release dates for the Blu-ray and DVD have been delayed to a to be determined date in 2014" though.

"Overwhelming theatrical demand" my ass, there isn't a theater with it within 200 miles of my house.

47 theaters in all of the United States doesn't strike me as "overwhelming."

Really? That is it?

Must be differences in the theatre organizations or something. Here in Canada, Cineplex alone has 37 theatres showing it.

They've added a few since the list I looked at. There's 54 US locations and 38 Canadian listed by Funimation. But yeah, it's nowhere near a wide (or even a reasonably accessible) release for most of the country.

So basically... I can blame Canada for my delayed preorder?

Feast for the eyes, especially Asuka's perv plugsuit. Then 3.33 came along and left us with a setup for the big finale.

I hope Anno gives us some huge surprise after that. Maybe something completely new which might wipe the floor with his own Eva.

I'll watch it in Theaters, it had better be released near me.

And it is, we have one nearish to me......

Then I saw the trailer and I was like eeeeeeh.....maybe not.

Un-oddly enough, I did not like 2.22, as I felt it stepped all over characters back in the original Evangelion. Namely Toji and Asuka. They decided Toji wasn't important, and gave his entire character arc to Asuka. So her Character felt cheapened because they took someone elses arc and gave it to her.

Visually, I liked'em both a hell of a lot. But from what little i know of 3.33, which I have not watched yet, it's going to be more of 2 and less of 1...I'll wait for 4.44 to make final judgements however.

Honestly, 3.33 is more like Diebuster spliced with End of Evangelion than anything. It was a pretty crazy movie.

It's pretty hard not to spoilerbomb this topic, gotta be honest.

Wow
Such Rei
Very Shinji
Many Shikinami

But seriously, I did like 2.0. It's a lot more focused than the Original and the characters all had purpose within the plot. It's as if Anno roasted the fat off a freshly slaughtered ox. There's only tender meat now; Eva's purpose was made more clear now than it has ever been.

2.22's dummy plug scene was fantastic. Just as horrifying as the original if not moreso.

Overall, I still prefer the original series and EoE to the Rebuilds, though.

Ya, I actually like the movies more than the anime. I feel like they explain things better and the progression is smoother.

And 2.22 was definitely my favorite out of all of them. 3.33 was good, but I hated how Shinji devolved as a character. I thought in 2.22 he was getting better and then he just went back to square one.

I HATE THAT STUPID PUSSY. I wouldn't mind if Shinji dies in 4.44, he only gets in the way, causes trouble, and doesn't learn from his mistakes.
