Intersting news! Does that mean CR and Funimation will have more trouble getting titles. Also if they launch a channel in the U.S. other countries do you have get a new Cable / Sat PKG? Also drama, music and travel! They are going to subbed and dubbed! What do you think?

Yeah. Unless the Japanese government is willing to outbid CR, Funimation, Daisuke, and Viz, I don't see it getting much traction here in the USA.

I read that earlier. My thoughts on it is that it doesn't really change anything for me in terms as a new Satellite package. I believe it just another outlet to pump some culture out there in to other countries. I don't think at this time it will affect Crunchyroll/FUNimation as that really wasn't the case with the announcement of Daisuki. If possible, I want to see AKBingo! and music from AKB48 airing from that channel

You would think Japan would find better things to spend money on. Like you know all those tsunami victims, I guess this is suppose to help tourism somehow. Come on Japan this is stupid.

Let's not get into all the things that the Japanese government DID spend their tsunami relief funds on.

I do hope they can acquire some unlicensed anime to stream...but otherwise, I'm neutral on this. It's nice to see Japan expand their realm of streaming though to air anime.

I don't deny this but seriously they want to make a government funded anime channel?

If you are not defending them why even bring up other failed government policies?

As far I as I know, the US is still subsidizing farmers in other countries so we don't get sued for subsidizing our own. Democracy is messy.

Its like you guys want to not make Japan look bad in all this by pointing out other bad government policies which I already acknowledged that I don't deny or approve of.

Just pointing out that all democracies have this kind of thing. The good countries tend to be the ones where we hear about it. Nobody is going to report what some two bit dictator is wasting money on, 'cause they'll die.

I might also point out that Japan needs all the goodwill they can get in their corner of the world, where they are still remembered as the bad guys from WW2. If they can spread their culture in places like Cambodia, Thailand, and Indonesia, they might be viewed in those countries in a more positive light. I'm fairly certain that China spends a lot more than $15 million to make Japan look bad to their neighbors.

Did this make anyone else think of Outbreak Company?
