Seitokai Yakuindomo: Second season only.

It is the type show where it isn't required to view the first series to enjoy it. If you didn't know the first series existed, I seriously doubt you would be aware of it by watching this one.

Sadly, the "S2" is a bit of a giveaway. And, as i general rule, I prefer to watch things in order. I will ave to watch S1 before S2, ebcause that's how I'm wired.

Oh "Sorry, due to licensing limitations, videos are unavailable in your region.", how I haven't missed you. And just when these announcements looked to be going well for UK subscribers too.

As for Animax, their site is an ad infested train wreck which is incapable of streaming anything for more than a couple of seconds without buffering (not that I ever watch video on my PC) and they have no apps on any platforms, therefore they're a total irrelevance. "Other sources" win again it seems.

Animax is crap. I know this from simply conversing with the PR people via social media.

Until things are locked away subscriber-only, they display ads even if you're a paid subscriber. This is unacceptable. Well, it is for me anyway. And this is the bunch of morons who are keeping some shows form CR in the UK? Screw that!
At least Wakanim are trying to do something interesting, even if it doesn't suit my personal use-case. They're trying to be different, when I don't want different. That's one thing. Animax are trying to be "almost the same, except where it counts", which is quite another.

Interesting that a certain party that is complaining about Animax UK is the same one that once stated they wished CR would pull out of Europe and leave it to someone else.

Interesting, but not surprising, given that they seem to love to complain and criticize, even elsewhere on topics that have nothing to do with UK licensing.

It isn't the first time. The Familiar of Zero F has 3 other series before it. Infinite Stratos 2 is an even stranger case, as CR has gotten previous series for other simulcasts that came via Sentai, but not it.

I certainly hope they can add the first series, but obviously they aren't in a position to commit to it at this time.

BTW, 6 more boxes have been added to the New Catalog Titles section of the lineup page (as well as more boxes added to the New Simulcast Titles section).

I spent a few minutes on the Animax site this morning to see if anything had improved. It hadn't. They still have no apps on any platforms, there are ads everywhere, and the content line-up is absurdly small given the sky high price they demand.

Competition is all well and good, but the gulf between CR, for all its many problems, and Animax is enormous. As for Wakanim, they're so amateurish as to be comical.

The road to universal access for all to anime is sadly a very bumpy one. Exclusively seems to be the norm, locking away content all over the place and requiring multiple paid subscriptions to see it. It's sad really to see how little these guys understand the internet.

I can only assume it will take another 5 years of rampant piracy to finally wake them up, then we'll get video equivalents of Spotify. Until then, pirate away, I guess. Shiver me timbers etc.

What's happening with Space Dandy? I gather the American rights have been bought by someone else - out of interest, why are anime rights usually exclusive? - but what about internationally? What are the chances CR will think of their non US subscribers and license what is apparently the hottest show of the moment for the rest of us?

Space Dandy's UK simulcasting is being handled by Wakanim courtesy of Anime Limited. It was announced back at the beginning of December. More details, including English and Japanese casts, and also who is handling the rights in other regions was announced on ANN around the same time.

From what I can tell, Funimation have all the US rights and therefore the streaming, TV and eventual home releases are all being arranged by them.
Anime Limited have done the same for the UK, Eire and apparently some French-speaking territories. Including the eventual home release. And they are, understandably, working with their streaming partners Wakanim. In their case it doesn't totally exclude them also showing them via other outlets, but these things (unfortunately) take time to arrange even when they do pan out.
But it's not impossible that the show may surface on CR ( ) or Animax ( ) at some point as well.

I want the one where the mc seems to be a god, but isn't worshipped as one and the story seems to revolve around the fact that he wants to become popular and get shrines done up. Oh and he has a spirit that he transforms into a katana.

We've found a way to acquire anime legally and at the same time as it premiers in Japan. Now all that's left is to tackle region restriction. It's killing my music love on Itunes too. DX

Doubtful, as these are OAD's that are bundled with volumes of the manga. Even a company licensing a series for home video distribution rarely (if ever) gets those.

Funimation got the HOTD OAD that was bundled with a manga volume so all hope is not lost.

I believe you mean Sentai, but your point is valid. When you factor in that CR doesn't often get regular OVAs, however, it makes it quite a longshot.

The HOTD "Drifters of the Dead" was a bit unusual in that Sentai sold it as a separate disc from the series itself. Perhaps if that is a commercial success, we might see them attempt to license other OADs.

Yes, the difference between physical and electronic regional rules still bug me. I cannot buy music from iTunes, Amazon or HMV Japan or UK without a Japanese or UK credit/gift card but CDJapan, HMV and Amazon Japan or UK will gladly ship me a physical CD with the same music on it even though I pay using my normal Canada credit card. Amazon Japan or UK won't sell me Kindle editions of books, manga or light novels but they will gladly sell me physical books with the high shipping costs. CDJapan on the other hand does have e-books that I can buy and they also sell me games that Amazon refuses to sell me.

The Sony Store will sell me Japanese games but I have set up an account still with my old physical address and phone number in Tokyo and luckily they don't use IP addresses to keep current with where I am and luckily their devices are Region Free. Nintendo is not... sigh.

With Crunchyroll having the anime AND manga rights to AoT I am hopeful that somehow they can combine the two and give us the OVAs. Same for the Mysterious Girlfriend OVA we never got here. This is especially true for Kodansha as their OVA bundles are all region 2 DVDs which I can only play on my laptop which lets me set the region code (a few times before you need to repave/reinstall the OS). Other companies now do their bundled OVAs on Bluray, usually region free these days.
