Hi, everyone!!! I'm trying to gather some constructive feedback on the contests that I've thrown until now! I'd really love your thoughts about ways to make these contests more fun and engaging for next year!!!

It was hard trying to come up with ideas (even though there's an awesome thread of suggestions!!!) and I swore to myself that I'd use them more instead of trying to think of things on my own! My 2014 New Year's resolution is to use your suggestions and turn them into something fun!!! But for now, let me know your opinions! Was there a contest that was too hard? Or did you like the challenge? What could I have done to make it better?

Remember, these are opinions about MY contests only!!! If you have comments about other types of contests thrown by others, please be mindful that this is NOT the place to make them.

I am only taking criticisms for MY contests.

The One Piece Scavenger Hunt was fun. It took some time but I eventually got it. My only issue is that I couldn't get a clear picture of what was in the background of some of the badges. That's what was really messing me up.

It doesn't matter.

I wasn't interested in the scavenger hunts.
I didn't like not knowing how much effort I would need to put into them or how long I would take.
I liked the other ones like the jar of stuff or the naked wall.

I kinda only joined one at the moment but I kinda love the contest XD Well if there are some that might be a bit easier like the one about the guessing of the jar thing that might be more fun ^^ I like the badges of course if there are still more of such epic contests especially about specific animes like the One Piece one.

The scavenger hunt stuff, was not really my thing, but maybe if you change it up a little bit it could be more interesting, for example instead of finding a mod with a certain headline, you can get a quote from an anime, and see if someone could find the anime, or even episode it was from, or even use a screen show to see if people know. You could also do anime quiz that people could answer and those that get them right could win a prize.
That is the really only idea i have at the moment, but if i have any others i will let you know
p.s. thanks for all of your hard work

I know that this is probably something you can't control, but I would like an easier way to know when you do a contest besides checking the forum a lot; I forget quite a bit that the forum even exists

Besides that, I find the scavenger hunts to be fun and have really enjoyed all of your contests (when I can find them before they are over )

I second the notion of making updates easier to find. I bookmarked the forum page so I usually hit this first before I go to the homepage, but even I sometimes don't notice when there's a new topic/contest unless I double check the topic titles.

I only participated in the scavenger hunts to the anime that I actually watched and were in recent memory.

I love the scavenger hunts. I didn't personally want to participate in the ones that required taking pictures of my house or things like that, but that's just me. I agree with the above posters that I have a hard time sometimes telling when there is a contest, but I don't think there is any other way to notify. A mass PM wouldn't be the most efficient so all we can do is check the forum frequently.

Honestly I like it as it is. The hunts are fun. It's like a small community of CR users that do this for collecting badges and having a little fun when you're bored.

In case you guys haven't seen this, Nicole has made a thread specifically highlighting contests all over Crunchyroll. I've thought about the issue of how to inform people of contests and I'll try to reach out on different social media platforms... But Nicole's thread will probably be the most comprehensive and current.

The only contest I was really interested in was the kind that included creativity. I think it's cool to see other people's submission and stuff

That's a really good point to make!!! I definitely want to focus on some more creative sorts of contests in the future, but there was some issues with doing earlier. It's tough trying to grow oneself organically through other means and be visible enough to get a lot of participation!!! I was worried that people would confuse me with Bee Onee-sama, so I tried first establishing myself in a different way. I might kick it up this year with promotions, but I wanted to see how people feel about it first if that is how I should go...

Thoughts?

You should often participate in other forums, like Anime, General Discussion, Help etc. If you are active in those forums people will eventually notice you. I don't really see you in forums often unless I activity seek it out myself or by coincidence, so maybe that might be the problem with contest promotion? Maybe after each thread or comment you make you can write:

It's not like I want you to click, baka

You can always make a Crunchyroll Contest group, create cute badges or banners that people post on their profile to spread the message, get people to fill their Headline and Status with mentioning Contest or something. Get members to tell their friends, which might cause some spamming, group rules can solve this. Also, is it impossible to send mass pms for this? I would think this would make it a lot more easier. I mean if Shinji does it with his guest passes you should be able to do it too since you work here, or is it only privileged to shinji?

The One Piece hunt was great!

It was difficult and had me super excited! The initial help for completing the task was well described and nothing was remotely misleading. The objective was simple (or so it seemed ) and there was nothing else to do, than just begin hunting
