I agree with both of u... asian rap is not necessarily better US... asians for some reason a different stlye of rap to target the people in asia... people who say asian rap is better have to look at the bigger picture (no offense)...with out the US, hip hop would not be even be alive.... and their r a lot of asian rappers who look up and model their career off of US rappers or some even lived in the US for a period of time (tablo, VERBAL, etc.) i've noticed also that most of the bigger asian rappers can speak a good amount of english... u can't really judge the rappers u see on BET and MTV because what u see on TV r music videos that r catchy to grab peoples attention ... sometimes when u actually get the album it is very different...my brother and cousins all listen to rap/ hip hop (whatever u want to call it) and half of the stuff they download i 'v never seen on TV and the songs r very lyrical and poetic talking about their experinces and pain (asian people will have different experiecnes to talk about from Americans so can't really compare)
Asian rappers can be accepted in America ... but Americans want to no what there sayin and it has to be clear... Amercans (not including most Asian- Amercans, or people who r more culturally alert) tend to make fun of how Asians talk and how bad there english accent is... so to give them a fair chance if they want to speak english in their song they have to say it clear... the second option (if they don't learn english) would to be to have a good beat (they have to have the whole package)... some of Epik High and Big Bang songs can make it to America becasue it sounds good (flows), they have good beats, etc.
I think one band who could make it to america is defintely teriyaki boyz...lol.. after tokyo drift they've become pretty popular (plus there is some english in there song so people can actually attempt to sing it...and also they made Bathing Ape (Bape) which is popular but expensive... they know how to sell them selves and they work with many American music producers and do collaborations with American Artists (Kanye, Pharell, Busta Rhymes)

i like asian rap, but i don't think it will be any time soon that americans would accept it...they will find any chance they could to make fun of it just bc it is asian rap...i think it could be a superiority complex kind of thing along with racism

Americans accepting American born Asian rapping in fluent english? Sure, I can see that happening.

Americans accepting Asian people rapping in english with a heavy accent or in a foreign language? I don't see it happening. The cultural barrier among the American people is larger than most people think. Sure, people consistently say "I'm not racist to asians, they're fine to do whatever they want." It's not a case of racism to be exact; it's a matter of acceptance. Even if the general population isn't necessarily "racist", their probability to accept asian singers is very low.

When I talk with people, a lot of the time people in America view Asians with an attitude as if they're looking down on them. Too often guys talk to Asian women as if they own them and don't give them the same respect as women of equal nationality to them. Often times, a lot of white people I meet view Asians as some sort of "Exotic" sex object rather than a real women. It annoys me that some people continue to view asians or other nationality with a different/degradin view, even if it's not "racist".

only if they're as good as Jin.

but even i poke fun at asian singers when they try to rap in english. can't they just stick with their own language? i might not understand it but its better than making a fool out of themselves by rapping in english.
i'd really like to see some asian singers tour in the US.

I listen to rap most of the time, and it's more likely that Asian rappers won't be successful here in America. A lot of you are saying that Asian rappers are better than American rappers, but I disagree with that because American hiphop influenced hiphop around the world.

The great rappers of all time discussed about their lives--not money, clothes, cars, and hoes that are prevalent today--and that's what made them great. Their verses were lyrical and poetic at the same time, and people sympathized with them, sometimes relate to them, and connected with them. It's not just about the chorus--like stupid Soulja Boy's Crank Dat song, ughhh-- it's about the message behind the song. I've noticed that in American rap, the great rappers touch on the sensitive subjects, such as the hardships they faced while growing up, social injustices, and even the unfairness of the government. They fuse difficult issues with the beauty of poetry, using metaphors, similes, etc. and the finished product is simply amazing. I haven't really listened to a lot of Asian rap songs, but to the few ones I've listened to, I don't think they really even do that. I'm not even sure if Asian rappers write their own songs, correct me if I'm wrong because I really dont know.

There is Jin, or should I say there WAS Jin who killed it in BET's Freestyle Fridays, but he didn't have that much of an effect as say Wu Tang did. Rappers here are artistic, innovative, and most importantly, influential, and I think that's what gives them a universal appeal.

Of course they would. The asians do all sort of things that are better than americans like technology and fashion (but that's personal opinion ) The Americans have more originality in the media for most cases. So basically, we're competing against each other so we have to hate each others work. I'm mixed American and Asian blood so I feel for both sides.
