As a representation of MMORPGs in anime form, I'm currently enjoying Log Horizon more than I did the first season of Sword Art Online, but I haven't been able to check out the other two yet.

The only .hack// related product I've consumed is the manga of Legend of the Twilight... and I am not going to judge the rest of the franchise for the faults of it. I'd like to watch the different anime series and play the games at some point though.

As for Accel World, I'm probably going to buy the series on Blu-ray at some point if I can find it for cheap enough.

But for now, my answer would be Log Horizon.

SAO wins out over Log Horizon, but mainly because I have a soft spot for romance

Log Horizon is definitely the best MMO anime series out of all of those

I went with Log Horizon because it's true to hardcore MMO game play, and watching reminded me of all my years of healing and tanking on WoW, and it has given me motivation to get back into The Old Republic which unlike my impressions of playing during launch, has been a pretty fun and challenging time.

However I almost equally love Sword Art Online, and if I were not an avid MMO player I probably would prefer it. I didn't choose the "All of them" option because I think Accel World was only an "ok" anime, and I do not like .hack at all.

Accel World. The main character is fat, bullied, self-conscious, and is a much more REALISTIC representation of what a troubled, anti-social teen could be. This leads to plenty of plot development unlike the people who are perfect on the first episode. On the contrary, the only arguable point about him is the fact he gets Kuroyukihime. There are some genuinely good people who look past looks and look at what's inside (hippy shit, bear with me) but most kids at that age are in it for the looks, popularity, and gains.

Kirito who is a anti-social, no-life gamer has the looks, has a harem, and is OP as fuck. I don't see the appeal in that except that it's every gamer's dream to be like Kirito who can have no life yet get the chicks.

A mecha mmo reality in which the brain processes are accelerated to the point time slows down dramatically in the world is unique and original (from what I've seen anime-wise). I like the fact that they are not trapped and focused on getting out, but discovering the mystery behind the Brain Burst program. It's like asking the reason we exist at all but on a much smaller scale. And that curiosity is fueled by the reward that the first person to reach level 10 at very high stakes and risks gets to meet the creator. When people are not trying to survive the whole time (SAO), I think it makes for a much better and fulfilling anime.

Accel World has beautiful anime, an amazing and motivational soundtrack, and a very on track and interesting plot. It's a great watch guys. Check SAO and Accel World out and see the difference in pacing. Both anime have very fluid art but Accel World has more enjoyable soundtracks in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, SAO was an OK anime but the author did a much better job on his other work of Accel World.

Accel World may be more realistic but SAO strikes a deeper emotional chord with people.

Log Horizon all the way.
.hack would have had it if i hadnt found the epic of log horizon, and accel world COULD have taken either 1st or second if it werent for the fact that the main char turned into a pathetic waste of life towards the end.... wasnt even bearable to watch, just wished someone would stab the fatty since i hated him even more than the antagonist for how he was acting.

anyway can't believe SAO is the one that's on top so far since it's near the bottom on my list O.o... i'd probably even put it below ixion saga DT. anyway log horizon is probably one of the best anime i've seen period, and definitely takes the best mmo spot.

Long story short. Basically I felt like i am ]living[ in SAO world while watching it.(1st person)
while i felt like Watching in LH world while watching it.(which is normal !) (3rd person)
I've watched other too , there isn't enough mmo element in them to really call them mmorpg so i VOTE SAO

I'll never forgive SOA for that horrible 2nd story arch (ALO). It completely turned me off to the series. The sister was annoying (there was no reason to try and force a sisterxbrother trope into this series) and the villain was... wow... it's been a long time since I've encountered such a poorly developed villain. Not to mention, why did Kirito go back to a game using the same tech that almost got him killed to begin with? His parents, at the very least, ought to have said no! (Worst Parent of the Year Award goes to them!) I just... basically, I couldn't suspend my disbelief for the show after that, so I gave up on it.

Log Horizon, by comparison, is a breath of fresh air. No angsty teenagers is a great boon! There are actual (young) adults as the main characters. Rather than romance, the story focuses on the adventure and tactics. The characters are all interesting and the world is fascinating (because it's probably not a game, but a real world, the players ended up in). The enemy isn't an arch-villain, but a lack of understanding about the world the players ended up in. Frankly, it's got a lot more depth and is a lot more rational to me than SOA.

So LH all the way!

If you talking about adventure or romance, it would be a different story. But if it's about mmo aspects, this is a specialty of Log Horizon and thus my answer is LH!

I've seen SAO, Accel World, and Log Horizon. SAO and Accel World are both good, but Log Horizon is amazing. It goes into things that SAO only touched on. I hope it goes on forever.
