For me, the Mecha genre is one of my favourites, especially with Code Geass being my favourite anime I've seen so far.

2013 had some decent Mecha anime releases like Majestic Prince and Valvrave the Liberator, then you had shows like Gargantia which had them present but weren't the main focus. Gundam Build Fighters also started airing, to keep the Gundam series going. (Is this anime any good, or is it really kiddy?)

2014 seems to have a bigger amount of new Mecha anime incoming, so my questions to you guys are... do you think there are any upcoming Mecha animes that could be something special? Could this year be a better year for the Mecha genre than 2013 was?

Here is a list of new Mecha anime out in 2014:

The layout of the list will be: Anime Name (Animation Studio) - Link to MAL page.

Winter 2014

Buddy Complex (Sunrise) - http://myanimelist.net/anime/21437

Knights of Sidonia (Polygon Pictures) - http://myanimelist.net/anime/19775

I'm interested in "Captain Earth". "Soukyuu no Fafner" also on my radar. The only problem I have with it is Xebec. Just not a fan of them usually.

I'll check out "Kenzen Robo Daimidaler", but it sounds a tad bizarre (might be a good thing). For some reason, "Buddy Complex" doesn't interest me at the moment, but "Nobunaga the Fool" does.

I'll probably end up giving them all at least a three episode trial.

Buddy Complex and Nobunaga the fool are going on my watch list.

I may pick up Captain Earth. The others are either I'm not interested in or need more information about them.

Is there any new info on Fafner Exodus cause I was really looking forward to it when the sequel was announced awhile back

I love all things Mecha so I'll be watching all of them to their completion, but the ones I'm most looking forward to are Captain Earth, Nobunaga the fool, and Knights of Sidonia
Been awhile since I've seen a really amazingly awesome mecha anime(Gurren Lagann) so I hope at least a few of these are really good

To tell of the truth, none of these really interest me.

Maybe Nobunaga the Fool, but that might be it.

Looking forward to all of these except Soukyuu no Fafner somewhat since the original season and movie didn't impress me too much. I'm a big fan of mecha shows though so definitely looking forward to these still.

CR has Nobunaga the Fool btw.

Alot of people didn't like fafner, but I really loved the show and the movie, so I'm getting pretty hyped for Exodus!

I'm not a huge fan of mecha. I've seen Gurren Lagann and Evangalien (ignore the spelling), Galilie Donna and a few others and loved them but the others, besides Gundam just don't interest me.

Watching every last one.
I know eventually theirs gonna be a muv-luv announcement, megazone 23 is possible along with gate keepers.
Keeping my fingers crossed for full metal panic, there was a tweet regarding "long awaited feelings will be answered" awhile ago.

So far though dreams are coming true for 2014 i think this year is gonna be even more amazing, so much sci-fi so much mecha...
And Garo tokusatsu the anime.

Let me guess... you've seen gundam seed or gundam age? Not many Gundam fans like those titles either.
It's worth exploring, theirs many different authors in this world and thus many different possibilities.

I think A.I units like APRS Blue Steel will become more the standard in Anime/Sci Fi action adventure shows? I like Mecha but they all look the same!Kinda hard to top 2013?
