pretty straight forward question; On a personal note, what anime series was the dark horse for you in 2013? Personally I would say Watamote, did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did.

This feels kind of embarrassing admitting but Love Labs was like that for me it's not the typical anime that I watch and I tend to stay away from anime's that look like they could turn into pervy fan fiction filled anime's (which it didn't, thankfully) but as it turned out it was a pretty well written anime that was extremely enjoyable to watch with plenty of laughs along the way though it's not my favorite anime it certainly was a great experience

Hmm, for me it was Log Horizon. I didn't have time to watch it until recently and while I heard good things about it I personally wasn't too impressed by what I knew of it but damn does it have me hooked right now. I wasn't aware that the guy who wrote Maoyuu was also the writer for it and I felt a lot of unused potential from that one although I loved the tone of the series and he seems to be more confident with the story this time around and once again I love the tone of the series.

It's not embarrassing. I also thought the show was surprisingly good with the comedy and the way it was presented so we're on the same boat.

As for me, probably Eccentric Family and Kyousou Giga. Zettai Karen Children: Unlimited also somewhere along the line if anyone remembers that show from about a year ago.

Love Lab would certainly be a contender for me, but in the end Arpeggio of Blue Steel wins the title.

I only watched about 3-4 of the new animes this season but I definitely enjoyed Log Horizon the most which surprised me quite a bit

I'd say The Eccentric Family, oddly enough. I didn't really expect anything out of it, but it really pulled ahead to be one of my favorites of the year

Meh, Log Horizon. Like many others, i too thought it would be a rip off of another particularly popular show about being trapped in a MMORPG. But, I love it, and it's better (as of now) than that other show.

Lolz, thought you were referring to Darkhorse Comics

Derp.

For me it had to be SNAFU.

With a name like "My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU" I did more than judge.

But it turned out changing my view on life through the magic of a man named Hikigaya Hachiman.

Add me to the "Log Horizon" group, same reason as 2 posts above, thought it was gonna be a ripoff/copycat, it's almost a genre killer instead.

Exact same show, for the same reason. Myself, I wouldn't say it is better (well unless that other show goes the way of fan service centric.) Since they are pretty different in what made me like both.

The other dark horse I watched this year, and probably the biggest surprize of outcome over expectation is a show from a few years ago that I just watched a couple months back.

"My Bride is a Mermaid" I watched it on netflix out of sheer boredom, kept watching it nonstop because I found it so fun!

White Album 2, absolutely hands down. That show came out of nowhere.

Brothers Conflict. Usually I don't like reverse harem stuff but for some reason it caught my attention. I'm guessing it was the opening theme

THE UNLIMITED Hyobu Kyosuke
GJ Club
Senyu
Hyperdimension Neptunia

All very good shows, for me personally. I enjoyed them way more than the rest of the anime community it seems. Except I think everyone who watched GJ Club loved it, just no one watched it lol
