Well, there are too many boys at this school, so something's gotta give. I suppose Infinite Warfare just won't cut it.

Never read the LN and I'm guessing it's not in English. What I can find of the manga is up to Chapter 23 so I'm curious to see what happens after that point.

Baka-tsuki has all 12 LNs translated

If they keep close to the light novels, then this show will be great but will need to be about 100-150 episodes at least. Being someone who has read all 12 LNs I am excited.

100+ episodes!?!? There's that much material for the anime to go off of? I didn't know it was that extensive.

The LNs are quite large and there are 12 of them. Plus if they really went in to depth about the magic as they do in the LNs it would take quite a few episodes to get everything.

The LN's are pretty good. I originally found the first part of the first one kind of stale but it gets a lot better as you read it. This is looking to be an excellent anime adaptation of it.

Mahouka LN's (irregular at magic high school LN's...) are extremely popular in Japan so there is a lot of hype surrounding this series for LN readers. If it adapts faithfully it's pretty much guaranteed to sell very well.

People are hoping it beats SAO and Index because well you'll see... From what I've read, I like this series, so I will continue watching it.

This was.....weird.

Some moments of really good directing, fairly fun backstory, MAGICAL NINJAS????, but it's still.......

Yet another high school series.

Though more fun than the episode was the comments on the Anime News Network about it, where the reviewers, moderator, and guy running the site threw fits because they got trolled hardcore simply because they wanted to believe the troll over their own community, and went into complete Stanley Woo damage-control mode* by threatening to ban anyone who called them out on their hypocrisy, lack of professional behavior, insults to the community, whining on Twitter about being called out by their community, or dared ask for an apology which is apparently unforgivable.

* Which consists of throwing oil onto the raging fire.

Man, I thought Daisuke Ono would have been perfect for Tatsuya. He's that guy who plays Midorima from Kuroko's Basket. The guy they got is doing really good though so its cool.

Those reviews... what a trainwreck. I've lost all respect for anime news network as a site. Their reviews are usually terrible, and I find their tastes annoying and just stupid sometimes. I'm never reading any of their reviews again.

I just find them so completely unknowledgeable about LN series and their basis, and they just watch the anime and don't even notice it's one of the most popular series in Japan and don't give it a chance. It's completely unprofessional IMO.

To be completely honest, i was not impressed. I feel the animation and color pallet were boring. The writing fell into familiar tropes literally in the first minute. A show needs to set up what the goal is for said show as early as possible. Sadly however this seems to be another slice of life show without really it's own identity. The show could be compared to infinite Stratos in terms of concept (although the general tone of the show in question is much darker), you have several students, in the typical futuristic high school uniforms, having awkward social contact. I think the concept of post WWIII is interesting, but it lacks the initial hook to draw me in for the shows likely 12 episode run. Oh and to be clear i enjoyed Infinite stratos.

First its 26 episodes, second it is not some harem BS mess with one of the most juvenile weak male MC that is infinite stratos.

Well sometimes shows takes a few episodes to get the ball rolling. Not every show is like SAO or AoT where the first episode sets up the world and the goal right from episode 1. Things take time to develop.

Some of the best animes take a few episodes to develop the world and the characters before anything really starting moving. Perfect example of this would be Steins;Gate. You're judging way too early.

And in the bold, you're just being picky. Typical futuristic high school uniforms? I didn't know their was a norm for futuristic high school informs. Also, is that really even a drawback if it was true? Like who cares?

Also it's set out to be 25 episodes, do some research.

First of all i am not professional reviewer and never state that i was, so all of those things were my personal opinion. Granted it may to be early to judge the series story as whole as of one episode, i am well within reason to judge the animation based on the pilot. Also i never stated that futuristic high school uniforms were a "drawback" I merely was comparing the uniforms to that of Infinite stratos, which are a particular style of uniforms typically used in anime with a futuristic setting. Never said that i cared about the uniforms just used them as an ascetic comparison. Also i never stated that the show would only have 12 episodes just that it would have the usual 12 episode minimum. Read my post I use the word "Likely" which is a non definitive word. I should do some research? on such an irrelevant thing to my post? Maybe you should do some research on how to properly interpret a forum post before spouting your criticism of my criticisms. That was my first impression of the show after watching the first episode, not a review of the series as a whole. Grow up kid.
