Wonderful; I read a bit of the manga before lack of funds forced me to drop it, while I actually fell in love with the series thanks to Capcom actually bringing over one of its excellent fighting games for the series back in the PSOne days. Granted, the story mode translation was a bit hit or miss. XD

Jojo's worldwide and new Sailor Moon worldwide certainly make the year special.

Oh, by the way, Jojo's may have secretly been in some of your favorite anime and games.

I wonder if this show is going to suffer hype backlash? Because I know all the fans are super freakin excited, but we seem like a bit of a minority... It's hard to gauge the hype for this show, not to mention the April Fools' announcement kind of backfired on Crunchyroll.

Whatevs though, I'm watching the crap out of it. I'm so happy, honestly :3 My body has been ready since the end of last season.

It could, a lot of people don't really "get" Jojo

people either find the art style awesome or just weird

I think a lot of people seeing anything JoJo related for the first time will be scratching their heads in confusion. The intro will probably be *EXPOSITION* just to get the casual fan up to speed. Hard to say if this'll catch fire or not.

I tried watching this on a few other sites and loved it but after a few episodes the video quality suddenly turned awful. Its great to have a chance to watch it all!

Now the question is: Are they going to keep the characters' names that are based off of bands/singers/musicians?

Honestly, I'd be surprised if they kept the names. They already have the VIZ names for part 3, so maybe they'll use them. That leaves parts 1 and 2. We know that Namco Bandai are working with Araki to rename the characters for the game, so maybe CR will use the names provided by NB.

Since it will be here on CR for everybody to see, rather than packed away on hard-to-find DVDs from years gone by, this is the best chance that the series has had to grab attention outside Japan. I think it will be a hit.

CR came through in a huge way

I've wanted them to get this since the first season.

a big chunk of why a lot of people didn't see it is it had no legal stream

now, both seasons will

(and if it's the blu-ray version of season 1, all the better. . . they took out some censor-shadows and touched up a lot of frames)

The great thing about the new anime is that David Production managed to capture the manga for what it is.Things are rushed though, etc, but some of the weirder aspects are portrayed proudly. They don't add another coffin to the ship to make Dio's revival in Part 3 make sense, Joseph and Cars still manage to monologue at each other during the time it takes Jojo to fall 10 feet through the air, Jonathan still shouts his overly lame 80s action phrases, Jonathan vs Dio in the mansion is still impossibly ridiculous.

It's the spectacle. And there really hasn't been anything like it in a while.

I'm sure that people that were once fans of the over-the-top action anime from the 80s and 90s (especially fist of the north star or dragon ball) would really appreciate it. It doesn't hide what it is. In fact, many of its flaws are proudly showcased.

The hype is actually very minimal. Considering this is such a niche anime website, I'm surprised that only a few people have ever mentioned the Jojo's anime outside of the announcement that was made. In fact, keeping the Jojo's discussion near the front page in the anime forums is proving to be just as difficult as keeping Majin Bone or Wixoss near the front page..

The hype isn't as large as it may have seemed during that announcement post.

It's set for Friday. Do we know the original schedule? I know I won't be watching it but my husband is super hyped for the show. Just wanted to get more information on that.

It's set to premier 1 hour after the Japanese broadcast. Friday morning for Americans.
