If you guys are afraid of getting scammed, just buy them food instead of handing out money. If they reject it & ask for money instead, then they are most likely scamming you. lmao

Fuck that noise. They could very well use that food to scam too. One just has to choke on the food or claim they are allergic to get a case going. That is why I do nothing. Also I don't have an ounce of compassion in me so there is that.

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a-lone

When it comes to homeless people, I generally ignore them. I have been told that most of them are faking it to scam us out with sympathy, but unless they are really persistent, then I just walk away. There are better ways to help the homeless than to simply give stuff to beggars as there's Salvation Army and other organizations that will ensure that those who are truly in need get my good will.

I seen a man claiming to be homeless on the same intersection everyday from work. One day I saw him changing his cloths in the back of a very new Black Ford F-150 that he drove there himself and after changing the passenger got out and got in the driver seat and drove the truck away. On a separate occasion I saw the same truck coming to pick the man up in where he and the passenger switched seats and drove away. I hear people that beg for money on good intersections get more money per hour that they don't need to pay taxes on than some office workers get from a college education. Some of them get upwards of $30+ an hour so it becomes their "job" to pretend and make crazy money. All they have to do is dress poorly and pick the right corner and they have a recipe for success. There was a news article in my state where a news team investigated one of these people driving nice cars and followed them and they were living in very nice homes. The guy they happened to investigate happened to get almost $100,000 from begging a year not including the food stamps and government assistance he got as well. Needless to say he got caught for insurance fraud, disability fraud, tax evasion, and several others. Once I heard that for some people being "homeless" is a ploy and really pretending to be homeless is really their tax-free jobs. Which is why if you buy them food, they get upset.

I'm not saying *every* person is like this, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were a majority.

I help people when I can, but I'm not stupid about it. If they can help themselves but don't. I'm not going to waste my time doing it.

I only help the weak, not the strong and careless.

I only help the ones that I know are truly in need. But tbh, here in LA, the majority of homeless do not even ask for money. Only scammers will hold signs and stand by freeway exits.
