I do work because it needs to be done. Praise and prizes are trivial when the work needed to be done is necessary.

It depends on the situation.
E.g. if it was "working" in the sense of cleaning something or cooking up a meal then it would be praise for me. Mainly if it were for a significant other.
However, in terms of employment prize is priority. For the route of work I want to undertake if I get paid (prize) that would automatically equate to praise for me as my efforts are worthy of pay therefore I must be adequate at what I am doing.

It depends. If its a job, then prize. But if its something that im doing on my own freetime (writing, drawing, etc.) then praise.

Prize. I consider praise to be a prize, anyway.

Is receiving a prize not a form of praise? I guess this depends on the situation. But having a tangible item to show for your work generally sounds better than praise. However, I can see an infinitesimal amount of situations in which I would prefer the praise. A good example might be after a performance, where the affection from the audience is more sought after as a goal than the "prize" would be.

I think I am over-thinking this.

Praise.

My sister is the big achiever but I'm really nothing. I really just want my parents to praise me, even at 21.

Someone said money is but a means to an end. And I'm gonna echo him.

PRIZE! I don't want to work for something and in the end, I'm getting praised for it. I can just praise myself and get the prize while I'm at it. BOOYEAH.

I thought about this question and couldn't come up with an answer, so I stared at my laptop in despair for a few minutes, but now I think I have it. Hm.

But...praise, I guess. It's hard, thinking that people don't notice you. Or knowing. Being the underachiever or not-achiever is difficult and it's really, really nice when someone points out something you've done, even if it's something trivial. People like being noticed. Prizes are important, too, one cannot survive without money, but sometimes I just want someone to see work that I've done and comment on it. I suppose that's attention-seeking, selfish, and unkind, isn't it?

Prize, mostly for the satisfaction of overcoming something in my way.

Prize. But isn't giving someone a prize a way of praising someone?

To be praised is the prize.
